This video shows you how to replace your inner axle seals on a solid beam axle such as a Jeep Wrangler Dana 30 or Dana 44. Yes I really do know how cheap seal tools are, it's just that I'm so used to doing it my old school way 😁

Thanks Mike, I have to do this on my 97 ZJ Dana 30, when I re-geared it (using your much valued and appreciated tutorial videos) I replaced them, but I did not put any grease on them, and I may not have pushed them in straight, so they are leaking again. This time I'll follow your instructions, do it right. Thanks!!

Are the seals in a different location on the M186 (Advantek Dana 30) or is it the same procedure? From the parts diagram it appears the passenger side is in the axle tube on on the passenger side, near the FAD. I assume you would just feed the seal into the tube from the diff and tap into place with a pipe, though centering it would seem to be more of a challenge.

You are correct. The seal is at the FAD.

Thanks Mike, guess I'll be doing this soon. Instead of pvc could you use a socket and extension as long as it's the correct diameter(same as your pvc)?

Yep. Anything that is the correct diameter.

What size is the PVC coupling?

I bought it so long ago... If I had to guess, I'd say inch and a half.

No need to check backlash when changing the seals... Nothing else has changed.

@@TheBFHGarage your vídeos explain really well the procedure . I have a rear vari-lok on my Dana 44 (Wj) and the slippage is not work and dragging when turning. I have run a pattern and it is very deep and backlash is almost inexistente. I think the assembly is very tight. I know the axel was change by previous owner but I suspect the assembly was not correct.What would you recommend?

@@joaoboia7837 To be honest, the gears are already broken in so there isn't much you can do. If you try to change it it could fail quickly. I would either rebuild it or just run it as it is until it fails.

Mike another great video just to late, I already had to do it winging it...I bought the tool for like 18 bucks Amazon kind of like the clamshell bear puller worth it 👌
