WoooHooo. Just changed mine out W/O removing the steering wheel. The Torx25 on the face of the multi unit was the only tough one. Used the Torx bit w no driver and turned it with a 1/4" wrench. Thanks for the tutorial. 2 hours start to finish. Remember to move your electric seat all the way back b4 disconnecting the battery. I forgot & cost myself some unnecessary agony. Good luck with yours.

I very much appreciate that 1A Auto takes the time to make the DIY videos. I have referred to them many times and have bought parts from them as an appreciation. The parts came fast enough and were good parts. A lot of people commenting that they had funky stuff happening like other lights flashing instead of the turn signal. Check your grounds. 12v is crazy in how it tries to find a ground when the expected ground goes bad. I had a friend replace every part in his ignition and throttle body injection and the known good engine ran bad. Hold my beer and watch this. I took a jumper cable from the negative terminal and put it to the alternator bracket. The engine smoothed right out. He almost fainted. One engine ground had rusted apart and one was almost there. Learn from that. $500 later he sure did.

@@sajen23 did you get around to it yet? If your turn signals and wipers, cruise etc. works and it's just your hazard lights not working you can replace just the hazard switch without doing the whole multifunction switch. You don't even have to remove the trim around the steering column. If you look down at the hazard switch you can see an area where you can stick in a small flat blade screwdriver and release the clip that is on the side of the hazard switch facing the front of the vehicle, you won't actually be able to see the clip but you just need to get a small screwdriver in there and make enough of a gap in there to pop it free then you can work the trim around enough to be able to pull the hazard switch all the way out without actually having to remove anything else. I got one from a junkyard but they have one on amazon too www.amazon.ca/Dorman-924-608-Hazard-Switch/dp/B003S15WQU The amazon one says it's not compatible with the gmt 400's but if you read the reviews it will work.

1996 Buick Riviera owner here, that switch looks EXACTLY like the one on my car although it never is shown to be an exact replacement. I think I am going to buy it and find out if the wires are different and if so I'll make them correct. There are 2 tiny 2 pin connectors that are in mine that come out from the end of the harness away from the lever that have nothing to do with the lever itself I will have to splice into the new harness but that is an easy fix. My right turning lamp lights up solid every time I hit the brakes, if I pull on the lever like I am just about to turn on the high beams it goes out. First I am going to disassemble and see if it just needs cleaned out. I'll find out what's going on inside first. I might even make a video as this appears to be a real problem no one has addressed or identified in the forums and these are discontinued since 2012.

You can bypass pulling the steering wheel turning the steering wheel (top, 12 o'clock) to about the 8:00 position (drivers door). This will give you access to the torx bolt that is hidden by the steering wheel. I would still pull the fuse for the airbag since we're messing with the steering column wiring, just for the heck of it. Hope this helps.

Remove your front turn signal housings. Look for a small (VERY small) burn mark where the wire loom runs up into the housing. The wire loom has a small area that is not protected, and rubs up against the metal, wearing away the wire insulation, just enough (I mean, like the size of the head of a pin) to hit he body metal and short out. Drove me darn near nuts tryin to figure out what was happening. I simply wrapped electrical tape around the loom at that spot, and the problem was solved. It's a very common problem.

No, those would be the lights inside the gauge cluster if the blinkers are actually working.
