A failed power steering pump will make lots of noise, and you'll have trouble steering! This video shows you how to install a new power steering pump in your 2005-15 Nissan Xterra.

Very useful, but I had a couple of issues that I found might help others; firstly one of the nuts on the fan clutch had been sheared so I couldn't remove it as per your video, but I found that you can remove the lower part of the shroud, unhook the electric fan & found there's just enough room to remove this by pulling the main shroud towards the engine block - then the electric fan will pull up & out - the shroud itself can then come out without removing the main fan clutch. Secondly, I couldn't get the pump pulley to loosen up (it would turn the whole belt & main crank etc..), but the holes in the pulley face are wide enough to get a socket through & onto the retaining bolts to undo it. Getting the main bolt the pump hangs off back in was also an issue - for which I passed the main bolt through the first hole, put the nut back on fully & then pushed it through the second hole; while holding it snugly in place I was able to tap in the collar with a hammer with just a few hits. Fitting the main bolt in place & getting the nut behind the last bracket was pretty awkward - as was fitting the pump hoses (especially the 24mm bolt with two copper washer). I eventually took out 9 screws holding the inner wheel well plastic cover in place - with this (& the wheel) removed provides a much better view & access to that area. I'd advise taking this off sooner & was able to finish the job much quicker.

To anyone reading. I realized alternator was going bad, and come to find out the power steering pump was leaking onto the alternator. Replaced both referring to these videos and everything is back like it should. Steering great and pulling proper voltage. 👌

Bro good vid u never mention the sensor removal on the pass side that is connected to the shroud as well just a heads up is where i am currently at taking my time so i dont break

Take out the inner fender . Can get at that back stop nut better.
