Use led bulbs they don't get as hot an wont melt the socket

Since we will need to repeat this every few years, it might be helpful to use quick connect splicers to avoid continually making the harness shorter (this only applies to those of use who don’t plan on buying a new vehicle every 2 couple years, of course). Thanks for the clip.

question for you on my 2002 tahoe my drl sockets are burned out I bought new sockets the burned socket wire there are 2 wires a blue and a black the new socket wires are white with black pink and light teal green what wire is postive I figure the white and black wire is ground any help would be apreciated

I am a bit Abbey normal, an am putting classic round headlights in my 93 suburban...how can I make sure there is no daytime power going to my lights?..ever since I have had this the daytime lights do not always work and must be a switch issue.

I did this today and new sockets and bulbs don't light up . I had power before I did this one light was working now I have .02 of a volt . Do you know if I soldered the wires in reverse polarity or does it not matter . Thanks

I checked with a 12V tester and there is no power at this socket. I'm assuming this is what I have to do?

+Mike Tellone As long as the parking light bulb is a 4157 or 3157 this will be the same socket! This is the only style socked we carry for this vehicle, so if it is different you would have to purchase it elsewhere! Every year or two it burns out the socket literally. I'm wondering if this bulb is also for the parking light, if it's only for the running light I might disconnect both sides. Don't really need running lights. most cars don't have them.

Those style connectors need lots of bulbs grease and checked every once in a while they get corroded REAL EASY and hold moisture

Hey, I’ve got an 03 Tahoe and the left side daytime running light only works when I tap the lower headlight assembly. The light will stay on for the rest of the drive until I park. Then when I get back in it the light doesn’t work until I hit the assembly again. Do I need to replace the socket? I’ve already tried replacing the bulb.

Can one get an entire harness with all three lights (1:01) DRL, BLINKER, SIDEMARKER lights instead of clipping off the socket and replacing? I need to replace both sockets (blinker, DRL) on both sides Right, Left.

You maybe can but it will take quite a lot of work with taking off panels and whatnot to get to the main harness plug

Help please, my new used 03 ford exp.sports tracker v6 2wd turns on head lights and runner lights all by itself after I started the car on an overcast day. I can not find where the "DRL" module is located. They can't be turned off unless I remove a small fuse then re-insert fuse. If I start the car after a few seconds it turns the head lights on again

Check your relay under your engine bay or wherever it’s located sounds like a stuck relay problem

Can this operation be done without disconnecting the battery or do you run the risk of electric shock when cutting the wires

If the circuit is fused, you could just remove the fuse.

Note: It's not that the contacts are burnt out: It's that the plastic tabs that hold the bulb base are burnt out, and break when you try to remove the old bulb; so the new bulb won't be held in securely. If this happens, you will --AT A MINIMUM-- burn the socket contacts with the new bulb. I tried removing the old bulb first, and fortunately I did not break any tabs so I just installed a new bulb and called it good: For now.

Our daytime running light burnt out and we are trying to take off the head light on the left side and it's so hard to take off!! Why is the head light so hard to take off? We have a 2008 Chevy Avalanche LTZ 1500 4X4 5.3 Vortec V8

Is there a way to do this without having to use connectors? I was hoping there’d be a way to remove the wires from socket and just use a new socket so you don’t have ratty looking wiring.

Seems manufacturers use the wrong material / wrong bulbs that are not comparable. Toyota thanks you Detroit! Seems if this becomes a socket bulb replacement that you should cut the wire short at the socket end leaving the original as long as possible. That way you can slowly walk it back as you do multiple replacements. If not for you then the next guy.

I replaced my bulb and it went out again when a few hours later. Would this fix that? The socket doesnt look burnt and it did work when i put the new bulb in.

Amazin Blasian Did you ever find answer to this? Mine does same thing and order new sockets and plan on using LED bulbs hoping they don’t burn as hot.

Just bought a 2000 chevy 1500 and the running light don't work at all. No power to them. Checked fuse and it's good. Anyone know what it could be.

Cliff JONES could be the ambient sensor on the dash. Major problem in theses vehicles. Only $20 for replacement. Worked for me.

i replace both of my DRL sockets and installed led bulbs but they wont come on in less i remove the relay and install a jumper wire. I tried replacing the relay with another relay i know is good and they still dont work. what else could be the issue?

This video went so fast, I have no idea where the quick connect latch is you talked about. Had to watch another persons video to get clear instructions.
