It is time to replace the roof on my 99 Fleetwood bounder! But, before we just roll on the goodness, we have to prep the roof by replacing all the old vents, fans and sealant. It just makes this process so much better going forward!

I'm going to use Bedliner on my roof! Its thicker and should never ever be a problem. Also around the whole outside.

Hey dude, did you have any soft spots in the wood before you started the new roof work? How did you determine if it was worth replacing a section or not? My used 1997 Bounder has some soft wood sections, but a new roll-on roof from the last owner. They didnt replace the soft spots. I'm wondering if I should dig into it or let it be.

I'd verify on their site, but I think you can put it on just about anything, including bare wood

Why are you doing the vents before you put the new roof on?. To me it seems back to front, I would put the new roof on and then cut the holes for the vents

Yup in a typical way you would do it that way, in my case it's a roll on silicone membrane that you will put on last. Makes things much easier :) hopefully the next video will make that more clear

Having just bought a 91 Fleetwood bounder with a leaky roof that's been severely bodged I found you video very informative. However I'm concerned that the outer skin of the roof doesn't seem to be properly adhered to the roof its' self. It is like a old canvas roof they used to put on cars. Have you any ideas about stripping back the whole roof area and fibreglassing it. My main concern is the fibreglassing will add 1/8" to 1/4" to the roof's thickness and I'm unsure how that will affect the reinstallation of the air-conditioning units.

That seems like a big job but i guess it would work haha. The crazy seal that i used will work on top of the bare wood as well, so if you need to strip back parts.. you could.

Wow that’s impressive that the roof is still in good condition. Did you have to reseal the roof after a couple of years/maintenance ? Thanks for your quick reply. And thanks for this very comprehensive install video. I’ve done scrape and reseal on my trailer roof sealant and its no easy task! Lots of elbow grease.

Your videos are awesome. My wife & I just got into the RV life back in Nov. 2020. We bought a 32' 1998 Fleetwood Bounder with Chevy 454. We will be updating our RV a little bit at a time and your videos will be very helpful. The only thing on our RV that we have found that doesn't work is horn and cigarette lighter. Any suggestions on how to raise the dash will be very much appreciated.

Mine didnt work either, it was actually a fuse under the hood, i would start there, in fact, it doesnt cost much just to replace all the fuses... saves a lot of headaches hehe.

That is dicor self leveling sealant :) I think you can use the crazy seal stuff too but I had dicor on hand

why would you ever use Dicor!!!!???? Chemlink M-1 is commercial grade roof sealant....Dicor? Really? Not sure if I can trust anything you are using at this point
