This is awesome. Glad it's so simple. Just got a used altima with a bad sensor. Happy it's a doable diy job. And that paper trick is genius!

Apparently the off-brand sensors are a tad longer than original ones or the new bought from Nissan. This, according to many people, destroys off brand sensors and that’s why you have to keep replacing them. On Nissan forums there are people claiming that off brand sensors burned the wire harness because engine hitting them inside the block, which causes a short circuit. I bit the bullet and bought both sensors from dealership - only 150 for a pair. I think it is worth it because it sucked to replace them, especially the bottom back one. Nice video, thank you for your time. My wife’s 2006 Altima is back on the road.

LMAO I feel this. I'm watching this video because I just replaced one in my jeep now I'm replacing in Altima. In jeep took 3.5 hours to get 3 bolts off the heat shield and 1 bolt of crankshaft took all of 25 minutes to screw all 4 back in. Worried this gonna be an issue with the Altima. But since I've done this before it should be simple

hello the code that cam e up on my 2006 nissan altima was the P0011 Descriptin: a camshaft postition timing over- advanced or system performance bank 1. Possible causes-- 1. valve timing problem. 2. engine mechanical problem. 3. fault cmp actvator. the car when parked will not rev passed 2000 rpm but starts first try and when driving will kinda of jerk when hitting gas. Please help use car for work. i was very low on oil not sure if an oil change will help this plan on working on it this weekend.

When you have the plastic engine cover off, it's possible to look down thru the manifold and see crank sensor, and what you are doing. It's not immediately obvious, but just look thru every opening, you'll find the view.

@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Placencia so you need to determine if he has fuel. So your chest feel pressure and you also need to test if the injectors have pulse. If the injectors are not working I would suspect a crank sensor. And last you would need to determine if it has good compression.

ignicion coils ,spart plugs ,crankshaft and camshaft sensor ,fuel filter ,fuel relay and fuel pump...
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Placencia you need to know if it's missing spark or fuel and then go from there. So if you have no fuel such as a bad fuel pump or bad injectors the car won't start. Or if it has no spark such a bad ignition coil's or cam sensor sensor crank sensor. These are all the possible causes.

HITACHI CPS0003 is the OE part number. You can save a bit by buying this instead of the dealer part, which is the EXACT SAME THING made by Hitachi. If you can find the OE PN of many dealer items, you can find them for cheaper often.

... I tried changing this Crankshaft/Crank position sensor for a 2003 Nissan Altima, with a 2.5L I4 engine. Not only could I not do it, but it looks like it's impossible to do while the engine is in the car. And I have small hands, and I laid on top of the engine, while attempting to do this job. First, I found that the sensors connector, appears to be locked in place with a Cotter pin. Yes you heard right, a Cotter Pin. All the videos that I've seen, None of them mention a cotter pin. Secondly, you can't Remove the damn connector off the sensor. And if you can't Remove the connector off the sensor, you CAN NOT unbolt the sensor from the engine. You literally can not fit a socket on to the bolt which is securing the sensor to the engine, because the Connector is Physically in the way of the bolt. I'm not sure how people are doing this, I think Nissan changed the connector or something. 🤔 Or people on KZfaq are leaving out a step or a procedure from their videos.
