If you are trying to replace throttle pedal / accelerator pedal and you have Chevrolet, Chevy, GMC, Buick, Cadillac car we will explain what needs to be done to remove and replace the throttle pedal / accelerator pedal. Your video was helpful, but this is a difficult job on my 2017 GMC Terrain. Did it yesterday. Reaching those bolts was tough and took a lot of improvising with adding extensions to tools and using multiple length 10mm sockets. It took about 4 hours, and I have been working on cars since the 60s. If you do this, be prepared to struggle. I did take two major suggestions from the video. Once I got the two somewhat reachable bolts out, I cracked the old unit and broke it off as the third bolt is impossible to reach. Then I removed the third bolt. I used two shorter bolts in the spots where you can see the bolt heads. These were much easier to put back in. I improvised the third bolt by putting a slightly smaller size bolt backwards through the mount. This allowed me to use a nut on the visible inside of the mounting, much easier. Thanks for doing this video.

Hi there I really need your help, i have 2012 1.4 turbo odometer 176k i have p1071 with engine light on i always heard some noises from underneath of car after engine off.and nowadays sometimes while driving suddenly there is no power on car and shows engine power reduced in dash board.after turn off the car and turn on its disappear drive normal.just wondering what will be the main problem of this car?

I have a 2014 Equinox. Mine went into reduced power mode and the cel came on. The code read that it was the throttle pedal sensors failed. I disconnected the battery cables and turned on my headlights for a minute, and it reset everything. So far so good.

How about opening it up and giving it a good clean. I've heard that the contacts wear over time and cause issues and sometimes cleaning them up could be a quick cheap fix?

So, I did exactly this on the weekend, and the unit is completely sealed. I was able to detach the sensor from the pedal, but that wasn't helpful at all. All I could do was clean the contacts for the wire. Best to buy a new sensor or entire pedal.

@@azzers78 What kind of car did you do this on? The dealership is telling me there is a wiring problem and I need a new sensor. I put a new sensor on and it didn't change anything.

@@ilovepink21bk Chevrolet Captiva. Did you get a diagnostic machine to clear the codes? I suppose the garage would have done it. From my understanding, it's either the pedal sensor or the throttle body sensor. Hope you come right. Good luck.

Oh yeah.....it can also cause additional problems depending on make, model and age. And believe me on this: Reduced Engine Power is an experience I NEVER want to experience again. It was bad enough when I was stuck at home and had no way of getting anywhere (rural area) but what finally made me just say to hell with it was when I was driving on the interstate and was between exits and it went into Reduced Power Mode while I was doing 75 mph! The exit south of me was 10 miles and had nothing there while the other was 15 ahead and had a couple gas stations BUT......it was uphill and had a steep exit ramp. On a flat perfect road I was able to achieve a massive speed of 15mph so....on a hill say bye to that 15mph. Oh and say bye to your vehicle not rolling backwards as you have your foot to the floor. I immediately replaced the entire pedal and the throttle body and attached sensor. Don't play around with this issue. There are tricks that work sometimes to kick it out of reduced power mode like shutting the vehicle off and using a rubber screwdriver handle to tap on the sensors then pray it starts without dropping into reduced power but they only work so many times and often they will revert right back to reduced power when the vehicle is turned off or as they get worse it will do it at any point while driving. Not fun and you will use curse words in ways and frequencies that were unknown.....even after years in the Army. BTW mine is a 05 Chevy Tahoe Z71. Those are fun to push, especially by yourself on an incline!! I'm not a huge fan of the drive by wire setup. In my 98 Jeep XJ if something went wrong and you had even a moderate knowledge of how vehicles worked, 9 times outta 10 you could use simple tools or MacGyver type materials and methods to at the least get it back to operational enough to get it home or civilization.
