Writing stuff is gamechanger. Making you thinking clearly and sloves problems even you didnt know existed. Just write stuff, just write your thoughs about anything, write about your problems and why there are problems etc. You most probably know the solution but you didn't think completely yet or afraid to clarify. Im writing for years, I'm halfway through my second notebook. I recommend

nice, altho the breathing part can be said easier than done and can lead to more overwhelming, overthinking that can lead to unhealthy copes and stuff if its hard for some and no other instructions with it

I'd think the solution is to notice the unwanted thoughts, and acknowledge them, and to deliberately redirect those thoughts BACK to breathing. Basically, the subject of your thinking is supposed to be your own breathing; redirect any thoughts that try to distract you from it.

@@nimimerkillinen I guess I'd need to know the way in which it makes it worse. For example, are intrusive thoughts coming in over the course of the breathing exercise that are "too strong" and difficult to redirect? Or, do the thoughts come back in an overwhelming way after you complete the breathing exercise? Or something else?

@@MeZimm both, afterwards i get more overwhelmed feeling worse off than i started and prone to more distraction/cope stuff

Why is sitting in a chair and breathing supposed to engage my emotional brain? Never mind what 10 minutes of full-body exercise is gonna do to it... Oh, why 10 minutes? Something mechanical that you understand, or just a number you've eeked out from trials? I assume you do this yourself when you have this focus issue and it works consistently (please clarify if otherwise) - do you just jog or what?

We spend most of our day avoiding emotions by living in thought. 10 minutes of focusing on your breath will allow you to become aware of the raw emotional state you are in. Regarding the time - I find 10 minutes in each realm to be ideal since its long enough to actually get a noticable effect yet short enough to not feel like a huge chore to complete. You should experiment for yourself what works best. Bodyweight exercise (pushups, situps, squats) is what works for me as a a physical exercise.
