Many BMWs have the ability to measure service intervals for oil, brake fluid, brake pad life etc. Its important to note that this is condisdered a 'dummy' light and you should be checking your maintenance items more frequently. For example, the oil life service interval in the car computer is set to 20,000kms. There is not way you should run the oil that long in an N52 engine. There is no way to adjust this value, but you can reset the service interval easily.
