Try 5w30 ect c3 shell dexos2 oil after couple of thousand km the engine oil control rings will be clean and sealing again, my oil consumption is dropped significantly. On my M54B22 engine

First I also used this 5w30 and the liquimoly Ceratec. But I don't know if that helped or not.....

Very good observation. I didn't edit/upload it because my hockenheimring content wasn't really being watched. But the new suspension definitely helped A LOT! My car understeered a bit though (designed like this from the factory) so I almost moved to a square setup and got an alignment which completely transformed the handling on track. So if you go b12 pro kit, get light wheels and semi slick tires with a good alignment (more camber in the front)

Most (all?) piston skirts are tapered from top to bottom. Rocking on the thrust axis is not uncommon, but you shouldn’t have rocking on the non-thrust axis because it should be constrained by the rod bearing and wrist pin.

I really wonder why my engine was knocking/rattle a bit around 2000rpms and then would go away... I took the whole engine apart and I couldnt find the rattle.

Hi Jeb, engine was fine, no flakes next oil change. Only fixing small vacuum leaks changing the CCV again.

Just replaced my valvetronic motor seal and cleaned up my engine oil cap. Together they were causing quite a bit of leakage down to the exhaust manifold and stinking up my AC. So far so good but I am a bit concerned as the old Vmotor gasket looked pretty fresh and new even. Will be doing the VCG later just to be sure.

I am burning too much fuel now. No vacuum leaks that I can find. I think it's my CCV.

I just used dish soap and some steel wool and was gentle and in a minute or two I removed all the carbon and it was all so well done I was scared for scratches but nope not a single scratch

Yes... remove the entire front subframe and drop the engine with the suspension and hubs out the bottom.

yes, for a while I did. 1L/1500kms but now after about 3 years, it has gone back to 1L/800kms so I am replacing the CCV for the 3rd time to see if that will fix it.

Do you have to push the lock pin all the way way in? Mine is half inch away and I can’t turn the engine anymore by hand. So I assume it is correctly locked on the flywheel?

It should go all the way in but normally theres a bunch of grime in the way, just be careful that it IS properly locked in place. Is your engine in the car?

Yes. Thanks for your reply. Engine is in the car. I sprayed some lube so the pin moves nicely. I can also hear a plonk/clunk when moving the pin back and forth as it hits the metal plate. Sounds metallic like two metal parts hitting each other. I can definitely not turn the engine by hand anymore. The issue I’m facing now is that the camshafts are not straight up with QR code. They are slightly tilted clockwise so the timing tool does not fit correctly. Should I turn both by hand into timing tool position?

Yes, replace the fuse that I show in this video. Your USB port should work after that. Not sure about the aux port tho.

Yeah the bump stop is built into these. You don't need a separate thing on the top part.

Push the hose towards the radiator. Press the white plastic tab on the hose in the opposite direction. Remove hose.

Yes. Air was escaping elsewhere. I created a smoke tester and found the air leaks. It's on my channel

The oil pressure sensor can leak. It did on my n52n30. Easy to fix.

Yes, I fixed the disa valve air leak and the vanos gaskets and it went away for about 2 years. I have another air leak somewhere now. It gives me the same issue where it stalls right away after startup.

Yes. Press down the brake pedal and put a jack handle against the seat to lock the brake pedal down. Then the fluid will stay mostly in the lines. If you let it all drain out, it will be difficult to get the air out again.

If you live in a hot climate then yes, or if your engine oil constantly reaches 110C, it offers better protection as the oil thins as it gets hotter

Yes any 5w30 LL04 bmw certified oil is fine for a diesel.

I didnt have to remove my vanos . All i had to do was get my engine to TDC and lock in the pin with the flywheel and its all timed ? Do i need to do something with the vanos locking tool now ?

what are you trying to fix? if you are taking out camshafts, lock the bottom end and remove the cams, but when you retime everything, you will need the vanos locking tool to make sure everything is aligned again

My N52 Engine is now at roughly 278000 km and it roughly burns 1 liter oil every 4000 km. idk how normal that is, but i heard way worse stories. to my knowledge the valve stem seals are very common issue on these engines and i also heard that the oil control rings on the pistons are somewhat bad constructed or something like that, not sure. and also a bad crankcase ventilation does lead to more oil consumption. so these are what comes to my mind..

This is normal and you have a good engine then. It's the piston design itself that's bad. This was updated on the black top n52 engines

Question, did you rotate the Valvetronic motor counter-clockwise with allen key, or did you just leave it like it is and did compression test like you do on a Normal engine without Valvetronic?

I should have locked the be valvetronic motor but I didn't know I needed to do it until much later. These values are all without touching the valvetronic motor
