Thank you for the very good video. I had a question, do you ever check the end play of the countershaft. I know they do sell thicker/thinner thrust washers and or shims to get it just right. End play should be within 0.029”.
@ifixmycarmyself2502
@ifixmycarmyself2502 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, and thank you for the question. Well, I had to go with parts that was supplied in the kit. End play was probably a little more. The kit was from you know were and specs were maybe not to manufacturer standard. There was also some wear to the gears but all in all the transmission worked fine after rebuilt and was quiet to, noise was the initial reson for rebuild.

I'm curious where did you get your rebuild parts? Do you have the part numbers? How is the rebuild holding up?
@ifixmycarmyself2502
@ifixmycarmyself2502 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. I bought the parts from a company called Transmissionpartdistribuitors and here is the link: www.transmissionpartsdistributors.com/ Kit was called BK341 but maybe I had to buy one bearing separately. You have to pay attention to bearing sizes, those wary so measure before you order. It heald up good as long as I had the car and when I recently talked to the current owner he drove it all summer with no problem.

There are many portions after the halfway point in the video where we wonder what you are doing because you are not saying anything. During the silence @54:50, I do know that you install 19 rollers then a spacer and another 19 rollers and another spacer. Then you do the same to the other side.
@ifixmycarmyself2502
@ifixmycarmyself2502 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. At several occasions I’m thinking about explaining more. However, not being an native English speaker I’m afraid that would only add confusion. Was hoping it would be selfexplanatory if camera is close enough. Guess there is several ways to do this but a lot of grease is helpfull. Otherwise those rollers ends up anywere.
