Good video!, maybe a few close ups on the winding will help a little more and ... please, as you remove the pegs, place them in order because you may just want to use the same peg on the same string, if they are new is no problem but with the use each one will adapt to the lenght of the string, ...just saying ;)

The easiest way to get the bridge pins out is to just push the strings down a little way into the body after you cut them. As soon as the ball end is clear of the bottom of the pin, the pin should slide out easily, no tool required. Not only is it easier, there's also no risk of dinging the bridge with a pin pulling tool.

Try pushing the string slightly into the body. This should move the ball end past the end of the bridge pin. The pin should slide out easily after that. Since I saw someone do that trick I've never used a bridge pin pulling tool.

If your bridge pin is wood or plastic, *NEVER* pull it out with a tool especially cheapo string winder. They will chipped or deformed, and bridge may be dented. (Yes, I did lol) If you can't pull the bridge pin out, you can push it out from the inside of the guitar. Make sure the bridge pins and bridge holes fit properly (slightly loose fit). Also, his method would too much string wraps. Unless you want to earn a break angle on the strings, two or three wraps are good enough. The smart way to restring. Wrap twice and pass the tip of the strings between two wraps, the strings are virtually locked there. Many guitar luthier / repair guys use this method.

I understand that being an experienced Luthier you have a number of tried and true short cuts. I enjoy these Gibson Video's, I watch them all.. I have been restringing my guitars all brands including Gibson Acoustic and Electric's since 1966, But suggesting to use a pair of Wire cutters as a Bridge Pin Remover is just not a great Idea for a short cut and made me cringe. Imagine a new owner changing his or hers strings for the first time using a pair of wire cutters as suggested and damaging the Bridge or Nicking the Bridge Pin? It would minor, but a big nick on the Bridge would suck every time the guitar was played. Investing on a Plastic Bridge Pin remover for a $1.00 or $2.00 is well worth having in your tool box after spending thousands on a great brand guitar. good or bad my opinion, Jim DeCola does have the Dream job..!!
@Nikoo0333 жыл бұрын
Or you can push the bridge pin from underneath the bridge via the guitar hole. Safer compared to cutting/damaging the pin or the body of the guitar 🙈
