This week on Evention we take a look at three basic dressage shapes and tips for improving your score at your next test, plus we film from the judges perspective and really demonstrate how precise these moves need to be. Lastly, we feature a new Schrammo's Shout Out this week.
We would like to thank everyone for supporting us this year as we accept the award for

Could you do a video on some slightly more advanced movements shoulder in, flying change, counter canter, and half pass. Thanks :)

Had a great tip from my regular trainer, Sharon Grimstad on how to do this in a test when you don't have markers. Mark out a correct circle at home (as you've indicated) and then count how many strides are on each quarter when your horse is going well. Then in the test, count and put the same number of strides in each quarter!

Hi Dom and Jimmie. I just wanted to say thanks for the videos. I've only recently started riding and just came second in my second ever dressage test (scoring 70%). The little mantras that you suggest are really helpful: simple to remember but to the point. THANKS!

I actually heard a very interesting thing from my S judge dressage trainer the other day: The corners only need to be ridden as deeply as the sharpest turn of the test you are riding. In a Training level test, your sharpest turn is up the centerline, which would be the degree of a 10 m circle (half the width of the arena), i.e. your corners in a Training level test should be ridden at the degree and bend of a 10 m circle!

Love these videos! Would you consider doing a video on common injuries or conditions you see at home for example mud fever and at competitions like knocks and bumps after xc? Also how you treat these. Would be much appreciated :)
