VERY HELPFUL!!!!! thanks a bunch!!! For everyone out there having their wheels going through the ground: 1 - blender units must be set to metric and the unit size 0.01 2 - the wheel blueprint must have its size (radius and width) in cm. I was using 0.5 (meters) and the wheels didn't contact the ground properly, until I realized thanks to this video, that I should use 50 (centimeters) because Unreal's unit is in centimeters.

Im a bit late to the party here, thanks for the great tutorial. I have a strange issue when importing my fbx though, the physics model seems not to recognize the wheels, only the body and does not generate collision for them. seems to happen upon applying transforms on the wheels, no idea why. Any ideas?

I did the same. The wheels of vehicle are moving but body is not moving. Why????. My vehicle is stucked at starting place, and on pressing A-D wheels turns at 70degree(by default steering angle) on pressing W - S wheels rotate but body doesn't move at all. Why???

Is your unit scale in blender is set to 0.01? Have you applied scale to your model in blender? Have you tried to use my free blender addon for UE4 vehicle rigging?

Wheel movement that you see is just animation, it's not real physical action. If you want to debug physics for a vehicle, then use "pxvis collision" command in the console. You might see that maybe all your wheels are in the center of the vehicle, or that your vehicle's collision box is just too big and is not letting your wheels touch the ground or something like that. Try using the addon, if that doesn't help, then DM me. It's hard to help in KZfaq comments. It's way faster to find problems if you can send me your blender file or UE4 project.

Did you set an animation blueprint for the mesh in the vehicle blueprint? With "the car just floats", you mean that it moves around and no animation or it just stays on place?

Does it moves only to forward and backwards or you can also turn with it? You wheels aren't rotating at all, or just front wheels doesn't turn when you try to turn? Did you checked if you have set the correct animation blueprint to the mesh in the vehicle blueprint? Did you checked if your animation blueprint is set up correctly?

If you are using the addon to rig, then select base as one part. If you are doing that manually, you can just select multiple objects and then just parent them to the armature.

Probably it's because you changed your unit scale to 0.01 and your animations were made when you had the unit scale set at 1.

Do you have set correct wheel sizes in wheel blueprints? Is your vehicle's front is facing towards the positive X-axis? Do you unchecked "Add Leaf Bones" in export settings? It's hard to help in youtube comments, DM me on socials or contact me in discord.

You need to have set unit scale to 0.01. It will not work without it. There's your problem.

UE4 as unit has 1 cm, Blender as one unit has 1m. You need to scale Blender unit to 1cm so it would be equal to UE4 unit size.

Is your vehicle facing to the positive X-axis in the Blender? Does the bones look the same way as in the video? Make sure that you aren't changing transform in UE4 import settings.

Wheel blueprint in UE4 asks for radius not diameter and in the blender you see diameter of the wheel.

Thanks for the video, but I have a problem: I've added the wheels in the vehicle setup as you did, with the correct referencing bones, but when I play the game they are all instantiated under the root bone in the centre of the vehicle. I've tried with some additional offset that managed to move the wheel collision on the correct bone, but I'm not sure it's the right solution. Maybe am I missing something?

Hello, amm i have a problem... I do not know what is happening but, my car does not accelerate, and as it goes undressing and the wheels go as if twisting or rotating in any direction, and if by chance it accelerates it slows it down while unde ... I would appreciate some advice Edited: I need to mention that my front wheels do not bend as I should, if I put the car on a cube so that it cannot "accelerate", the wheels do not bend

I can't really understand what's your problem. If there are some weird twisting happening it usually means that you have a problem with vertex groups. Select all faces in edit mode for each of your mesh and remove all vertex groups which should not affect your mesh. Have you tried using blender rigging addon which I made? If you still have some problems, just DM me in any of my socials.

I dont seem to take possession of the vehicle, auto possession is set to player 0 yet when i start i just start at my cameras current location and can not move the vehicle

If you have multiple pawns or characters at the level, make sure that your vehicle is the only one that has set possession to player 0. Or just remove other pawns or player start actors from the level.

Maybe try changing the default pawn in game mode to the vehicle pawn. If that doesn't work, then DM me on socials or discord. KZfaq comments are not the best place to help.

If you change your unit scale after you have set up your vehicle, it will get 100x smaller. Probably that's why your bones got too small for the vehicle. You need to upscale it back to its original size or set the unit scale to 0.01 at the start of the project before setting up a vehicle in the blender. Or you can use the blender addon I made, which will make your whole rigging process faster and it also has an upscale function. continuebreak.com/creations/ue4-vehicle-rigging-addon-blender/

I want to do this for a tank and upload it to UE 5? Can I follow this same process and just add more bones for turret, gun and wheels?

UE4 default vehicle pawn only supports vehicles with 4 wheels. If you want to make a vehicle with more wheels, you will need to use the Simple Wheeled Vehicle Movement Component. continuebreak.com/articles/how-use-simple-wheeled-vehicle-movement-component-ue4/ In UE5 you will need to enable the "PhysX Vehicles" plugin to have it working. Also, with that you will be able to make a simple vehicle, you will need to do lots of your own refinements. Also, remember that UE5 still is in the early preview version, it might have lots of bugs.

Make sure that the vehicle front is pointed to the positive X-axis in the Blender. And make sure that in UE4 import settings import rotation is set to 0 for all axis.

Just google on how to separate objects in blender. Or you can just select wheels manually in edit mode and assign weights like that. I suggest you to use this addon I made, it will speed up the whole rigging process: continuebreak.com/creations/ue4-vehicle-rigging-addon-blender/ But it needs to have wheels as separate objects.

@@ContinueBreak i initially used the addon method, but the problem was it generated one big bone like yours, but unlike your videos, the vehicle was not smaller, and the Bone was only on the root, not at all the wheels..

When applying unit scale, your model shrinks 100 times, so there's the upscale button to rescale the model back to its real size. And you get all bones at the same place probably because you have only one object. You can DM me on socials or discord and send me your blender file, and I can check what's the problem.

I have done exactly like the video, but It's not working, One bone is effecting another wheel. Like RL bone effecting RR wheel. Not getting what is wrong!

I can't say exactly what's wrong with your vehicle without images or a more detailed explanation, but I suppose, that mesh is not weighted correctly. ​@@sailokeshaithagoni8331 There might be a possibility that your vehicle's physical body is touching the ground, so it prevents a vehicle from moving, but I don't know what exactly you have at your end. As I previously said, KZfaq comments are not the greatest place to help people. It's way easier and faster in other places where you can easily share pictures or videos of your problem.

If you used addon, then I assume, that you did set the unit scale to 0.01 and had armature and mesh scale applied. Did you export FBX with the correct settings, did you had unchecked "Add Leaf Bones" and things like that?

Did you name your wheels in the vehicle setup like you named them in the vehicle skeleton? This error let my car dance on its wheels around the map.

it happens when I specify wheel bone names in the movement component (wheel array), before this colliders is normal

You need to set Unit Scale to 0.01 for the blender project and remember to apply scale and rotation to meshes and armature in blender.
