Ah. I see I am not the only one with the makeshift "bathroom" that gets you out of the 1 Bath market. The only positive is house has credit for 2 bathrooms, I can set up that 2nd bathroom however I want and wherever I want in the basement. After some thought, I am going with Pex A and will just eat the cost of the proprietary expander tool. Its all basement plumbing so no contact with sunlight. Pex A is unrestricted flow vs B which has smaller fittings than the pipes. This affects flow. A can kink and be repaired via heat gun, B needs kinks cut out. A just isn't as flexible, but it is flexible enough to avoid the use of many 90 degree fittings. This really helps design a project where you don't bury any fittings inside walls. All pipe.

Just get an electric valve out of a wahing machine, connect hot and cold to it and out to the outside tap. add a water tight three possition switch outside near tap,provide proper wiring and power to work the electric valve in the bacement! switch selects either hot or cold. you can get crazy and instead of three possition switch use a four possition switch and you can then have hot,cold,or warm, or off........

Wow! That would be FANCY! A little more fancy than what I need for how often I will need hot water outside though. Happy fourth!

Not sure why but I usually install my valves so that you have to turn them up to turn them on. I guess that I am afraid of the gravity monster.
@ReubenSahlstrom
@ReubenSahlstrom Ай бұрын
@@robertlane6675 yeah that's probably a better way to install them. Then you can use them to hang stuff on when they're closed! 😉

Is outside electrical outlet GFI??????????
@ReubenSahlstrom
@ReubenSahlstrom Ай бұрын
@@samenamenamesame2834 not the outlet, just the breaker in the panel. I have found that the breakers seem to last better as they are not exposed to the outdoor weather and temp swings as much.

i don't like the idea of pex for cold water supply that's used for drinking and cooking, who knows what it leaches. okay for hot water.

@@Jon-hx7pe I think pex is pretty safe. Made out of the same plastic as milk jugs.

probably not as bad as lead from galvanized pipes or solder in copper pipes or even copper itself. At some point you connect to the old city tech so everyone's water goes through crusty steel unless you have a well. If it came down to picking your poison, you want what's in the pex more than lead and other metal shavings.
@Jon-hx7pe
@Jon-hx7pe Ай бұрын
@@Kudeghraw the solder is lead free unless connections are old and surface area of solder very low. Lead pipe is definitely a hazard. I would go for copper before pex and to try to reduce exposure to bad stuff when practical. if the water isn't to drink, it doesn't matter.
