this trailer had been worked on by another tech three times, and was still leaking refrigerant and freezing up! I was able to find and fix the leak as well as add a defrost timer to prevent any future freeze ups in the future. Hope you find it interesting!

If that trailer plugs into a normal 20A outlet, then nothing they plug into that receptacle will ever overload your 40A timer - it'll trip a breaker (or melt the supply cord) first.

Very interesting! Do you need to replace the filter-drier on a repair like this, or is it still good?

Usually if I am able to braze without opening the system, I leave the filter drier in. If it was a compressor burnout then I would definitely change it. Best practice would probably be to change it though.

Yes you should… the system was running in a vacuum, it will be conterminated.

Was there no low pressure switch on that system to prevent the compressor running if the charge is low?

I don't think it had any pressure switch, as it wasn't a pump down system. Seems kind of like a poor design.

@@ReubenSahlstrom At a minimum I would expect a low pressure cut-off. Even AC systems in vehicles have one so the compressor won't run if there's no gas in the system. Anyway, great video - thank you for uploading it!
