Thank you for the video. I read many posts on different forums that it is nearly impossible to make it crystal clear only by sanding and polishing, that the only way is the final resin coat. Now I can see it is not true. IMHO, your way seems to have smoother surface, more effort needed, though..

Thank you so much! I have been trying to figure out how to do this, and so far my research has been various craft channels being like "Now if you say a prayer to your chihuahua while juggling nailpolish over a vat of crafting glue, perhaps you can make it look like a shriveled, shiny testicle". This is clear, precise and effective. Thank you.

White text on a white background is a bit tough to read. As a note 3M makes a 3000 and 5000 grit sanding pad. Awesome results either way, glad to see you left some of the bark on those pieces every other video I’ve seen they take the bark off no matter how nice it looks. What epoxy is that?

@joeschmoe6516
@joeschmoe6516 4 жыл бұрын
Use a heat gun at about 350F shortly (not immediately) after you've casted. You only want it to heat up just enough to pop the bubbles without hardening the casting at all. Make sure that the room you work in isn't too hot or humid. I cast at about 72F when using exothermic reaction epoxies.

Great video. Looks like the wood was completely encased by the epoxy. What do you do if the wood is not. As in a river table the wood is exposed.
@bummobile
@bummobile 4 жыл бұрын
Rare to see a river table that is not completely sealed and protected in epoxy...Regardless, you can still polish the wood with same equipment, minus 3m for plastics. If you just want to do "river" then you will probably do it by hand...

Very informative, and excellent work. This is the first video I have seen with so much sanding. Most just sand it smooth once and apply a final flood coat that makes a very shiny surface. Each coat bonds to the prior coat and fills in all the scratches and gaps. Sometimes they use a buffer to really gloss it up, but not too much sanding. Is "Grid" the European way to say "Grit?"

Wow! That round table top was absolutely gorgeous! I'm about to pour epoxy (thick glass look) over the same size round table. I have completed pouring the turquoise inlays and some cracks with stones. I'm nervous about sanding the turquoise epoxy. Trying to stay within the carved out river and not mess up the wood on the outer. Once the sanding is done and polished, I will pour the "glass like" epoxy over the whole table. I put a piano hinge on the back piece so the table top can open. Table top will be mounted on top of a 1/2 barrel. Someone told me to pour the "glass like" epoxy over all pieces connected except the end piece. They said take the piano hinge off first and try to avoid it from going down on the edges where the hinge will be so the gap isn't bigger. Whew... I bit off a bit more than I could chew on this, but I'm determined to stick it out! LOL! I have a WHOLE new appreciation for this kind of skill! :). Say a prayer for me! lol
