You're so awesome. Wish you'd been around the first time I did this. It took quite a few tortuous over several days -- I only had one new screen and some gunked up old ones I ended up cleaning. And cleaning -- coat it, dry it, expose it, wash it, and ........ either not enough of the emulsion washed out, or too much. Start over. It took six or seven tries. I was in tears by the end (hey. I'm a girl, it was a big, heavy wood screen, and I have a bad back. It hurts just remembering it). I did eventually get it right (after a good night's sleep). I think getting the screens right is the trickiest parts of the process. Of course, everyone is gung-ho to get the first screen made and get to the good part, but my advice would be: prepare to work on just this step until you get it right. Don't expect it to work the first time. It's one of those things you only get by feel. Then you can get to the easy part. Otherwise, people are going to think it's too hard, they can't figure it out, and they'll give up after the first day.. Don't do it -- persevere and ask questions. That's why this guy right here is so great : )

Oh oh! I live in a one bedroom/bathroom apartment so I put mine in the bathroom. I really didn't think you'd suggest overnight. I guess I can sneak in without letting in light! Thanks so much for the tips! It's true, I tend to rush things...it's smarter to get it right.

As always Johnathan a great informational video. I don't normally comment, but last week I had some major issues pop up with my screens. I have figured out the problem and part of it was the humidity. Being in Maine and working out of my basement didn't help. I have a dehumidifier but never really used it.....I faithfully use it now lol. Thank you for all that you do for all levels of screen printers!!!! I look forward to what you do next.

FYI, as an old photo lab tech, too warm air can actually have same affect as light on the emulsions and fog it. We had that problem with litho film and pads for offset presses. So drying with a hair dryer or in a heated cabinet COULD fog your emulsion. cool DRY air works best. John

Hi CATSPIT!!! Thank you for your unselfish tutorials. I am Jojo from Manila, Philippines and I would like to ask: Is it alright to several coat my screens and dry but use them only when I needed one or two? A rhetoric question, is it alright to store for months or even years a coated screen? Apologies for my stupid question. More blessings Catspit.

So I'm thinking of making a dry box from 1x4 wood and plywood, and letting them dry overnight or even 24 hours. Do you think that would work?

If my shop is 95f plus is that too hot? Around 50% humidity

hey guys. just a simple question... i know when you apply your emulsion it has to be in a dark room.. but once the emulsion is dry can i take it out into normal light before exposing it ? Thanks
