#bestshubunkin #shubunkin
In this episode I try to pick out my best Shubunkin Goldfish Fry to go out to the pond to grow over the summer. The rest will be sold to my LFS. I try to limit myself to only keeping 5-7 so I can Maxime the growth and development. These will be future brood stock. They will remain in my 90 gallon tank for another 2 months but I will be able to feed them more now that there are less of them.
This was a very hard decision on which ones to keep. See if you agree.
These are my best Shubunkin.

So I wanted to thank you for this video. It helped me a great deal in selecting my first two goldfish (I’ll be getting three but waiting to find just the right third one) today. I want to see those elegant tails like you’ve developed so carefully and with such love. My inspiration is to recreate the Goldfish Dance from Disney movie Fantasia in my home for myself and the cats. Having viewed your videos and seen how you care for your fry and select the characteristics in young fish that will bring out those elegant traits in the adult fish I felt much more confident today at the LFS. Thank you again, so much! I hope you’re staying warm and having a wonderful holiday season!

Another fantastic video Chris!! I can't even imagine how hard it is to go through all your beautiful fish and actually cull them. We would always love to keep every fish we have unless there was some physical problems with them of course, but being selective and really picking out the ones that show the characteristics that you want to keep improving your line is necessary.! Fish are absolutely beautiful and I love their confirmation and color! Thank you for showing us your process and sharing your thoughts on what you pick out to keep! The quality of your shubunkins is just incredible and I wish that you live near me I would dig a pond out by hand right now😂😁 The colors in the patterns are so pretty and I love that you're getting the blue in your line 😍 I know it had to be incredibly hard just to pick out the best ones when they're all so gorgeous. I love the ones you selected and some lucky person is going to get some incredible fish! Thank you so much for sharing Chris much love my friend, have a wonderful and blessed weekend 🙏🥰🌿🐟🌿💝

Thanks so much! I find that they changed throughout. I just did a video on a fish that changed color after 3 years and another one that was in a second year. @@stubbsaquatics6080 my commons. I've only 3 fish in my pond. The big female shubunkin who is mainly blue with red around the head. I snapped her up when l saw her as a lille one. And my gold fish are big too. One has a little black square above its lip, like Adolf Hitler. 😆. Anyway I've about 20 fry left as l just took the eggs off some plants. I've lost 50% so far, but don't see it that l lose anymore. Just got them all in a Pyrex dish. No air pump. Not just yet. They are safe enough. I got black ones out of my very first spawn. I didn't think that was possible with shubbies. I need to start culling mine. Unfortunately my sister begged me to put three of her goldfish in with mine.

Yes some have amazing black in them.. Are any of the regular goldfish red and white as in Sarasa or all just orange. They may not have as many nice colors but will make them hardier

@@stubbsaquatics6080 I actually had one Sarasa fish in the group I ordered. I just didn't understand how I have some solid black ones, not a pretty black. More chocolate. My favorite is a Yellow, black, and white one, withe blue.

Oh ok... Gotcha.. yes about 10-20 percent actually stay that drab color. It is the natural colour. It happens with common , comets and shubunkin. It happens with koi too. I cull those and they go straight to fish store .

I appreciate you supporting even though they aren't your cup of tea. When I lost all my koi one very cold winter I started to keep shubunkin.. I just went back to koi a few years ago.. I keep both now but in different ponds

@@stubbsaquatics6080 I use to breed boxers years ago and you selectively breed them for all the good traits and you only kept back the best one for yourself, the same as what you are doing with your shubunkins but you get attached to the pups a lot more
