Great stuff. Not sure why Apple makes you jump through so my hoops just to add a simple custom ringtone! Or perhaps it's because they want you to pay for theirs!

Apple is very anti-choice. Spend lots of $$$$ then only do the narrow choices we allow until your over-priced screen cracks and you have to spend again....

Did it work? Mine won’t take the sound I prepared for WhatsApp or other apps. The only one working with the ringtone I want is Messages, the other apps keep using the default Note.

@@LoboGrossgerge I downloaded my sound from Zedge . As soon as I downloaded it, the sound was saved in my iCloud and I was able to pull it up like he did on the video. I’m not too sure as to why yours is not working....

I have just got an iPhone 15, this instruction from 3 years ago still works perfectly. I already have many ringtone files from my old Android phone. After I uploaded them to a Cloud folder, I can reuse them in my iPhone. I have tried a few Ringtone Apps, but still like to hear the old ringtones. Thank you very much!

I really want to thank you for this tutorial!!! I had a recording of my rooster Skipper, who I loved. His crow was my ring tone on my Samsung. When I started using the iPhone over a year ago I kept asking people and googling how to convert the recording to a ring tone. Gary! Thank you so much. Just switched from a Pixel to the iPhone 14 and was frustrated I could not use my m4a ringtones or get them into a system folder as a ringtone. The GarageBand share seems to be a hidden path to get the sound in the right place!

9:30 pm Bravo! This is just what I’ve been looking for! I’m a songwriter, and with my galaxy 23, which I used to have, I was able to upload my own songs as ringtones. I haven’t been able to do that since I bought my iPhone. Thanks to your instructional video, which I absolutely love, I’m able to use my own songs as my ringtones just like before. I have separate ringtones for different people so I know who’s calling me when the phone rings. Thank you!

Wow! Thank you. At first the file I ripped off KZfaq was greyed out so I edited it on a free edit app and it all worked out. Now that my ringtone is set (Porsche GT4) do I need to keep GarageBand on my phone or can I ditch it? Great hack!

thank you so much. this is insane that you have to work so hard for something that should be so easy , im a new iphone user and so far not impressed with how hard everything seems to be . they always tout how apple is smooth and convenient and in the 6 months ive owned an iphone pro max 13 , it has been not as slick and as simple , apple pay , yada yada.... but this video shows exactly what needs to be done, i actually wanted a sound file for an alarm wake up call and it did the job perfectly. really appreciate your work!!!
