Ty to darken up ur Betta tank a s much as u like. Used almond leaves that are completely dry and add to ur tank, this will help ur Betta feel secure and safe, heal better, and many more pros.

My betta just died of dropsy, despite my water quality being good and he wasn't ill otherwise. He was in a 20L (a bit over 5 gallons) tank and I've decided to make it planted for my next betta. This video was simple and makes the whole idea less daunting than seeing a huge tank full of plants at the fish shop.

Try not to bury the leaves on your plant you’ll suffocate them causing them to grow slower 😌

Just wanted to mention that Eco-complete is basic, but in order to have a substantial amount of success, especially for a beginner- I would recommend an aqua soil substrate. Fluval, Contrasoil, Tropica- all great and are much easier to plant in vs. EC and are just as cost effective in a smaller tank. The success with any stem plant will be immense comparatively and you don't have to dose or use root tabs for a few months! They do release some ammonia at first and therefore I would suggest larger water changes initially.. but it will also help initiate a cycle for a new tank! Cheers
