What a great overview! Very helpful. I did also discover when turning on the electronic shutter, the shutter speed was limited to 3200 versus the full options up to 25k.

true exposure, makes sense, it is the equivalent in the mirror-less world of the "exposure simulation in live view" setting, ie: shows exactly what the sensor sees, if you change aperture, the screen DOES NOT stay bright!, it adapts to your settings, just like WB, ISO, shutter speed. ( I have autism, and am into cameras, how they work, etc, as well as photography), what the manual is saying in layman's speak is : when you use flash, you WANT to overpower the available light, so you set the camera for only flash light, so in order for the LV to be a bright image, to focus, compose, etc. you NEED to turn the exposure simulation feature OFF, so the screen doesn't go dark.

Exposure simulation is explained on p123 and true exposure is on p106. They aren't the same thing. True exposure is related to leaf shutters "This effect is perhaps not so commonly understood as it is restricted specifically to integral lens shutters as opposed to focal plane shutters."

I don't know if anyone makes TTL capable or HSS capable triggers for Hasselblad, but using normal flash with any brand shouldn't be a problem.

On the x1d? No. Nikon works though, not sure if TTL will though.

What strobes do you use, what transmitter do you use? Can you use hss with your strobes & the Hassy? Thanks for your help

Hello. I used Elinchrom Strobes and a Nikon Transmitter. My strobes are capable of HSS and the camera is capable of regular sync at 1/2000. I do not know if it can HSS, but I wonder if that is possible since no one makes a dedicated transmitter (I think) for Hasselblad.

I wish you actually went through the motion of how strobe interfaces with the camera. I assume there isn't a synch cord and the signal goes through the shoe with a pocket wizard.

The signal went through the hot shoe to my strobe brand's transmitter.
