Thank you sir. I'd just like to add that I wasn't able to assign jd Xi to *midi to* in the track. You have to go back into preferences and turn on the output for the jdxi in the link midi tab. Luckily I stumbled on this early. I can see it causing someone a headache trying to figure it out if they are new to this like me

Hey Ed, great info. Question: How can I record the four different audio streams from the JD XI into Ableton making sure that they're in sync? #Jmacatx asked the same question down below. As it is, you have to record them in one at a time. Then the four audio tracks have to be aligned in Ableton by hand. Is there a better way? Thanks.

Great! The JD-XI can drive 3 external synths via MIDI Channels 1, 2, and 3. What MIDI data does the JD-XI send OUT? Notes and Clock, or just clock? Is this adjustable in the JD-XI MIDI settings? I want the JD-XI to sync with my Boutiques, but each Boutique is playing its own sequence, not what is on the JD-XI.

Can you redo this tutorial for the new Macbook pro working from USB-C? There seems to be a difference. I do not see the JD-Xi. It also seems to be a problem related to the Macbook pro unable to see the JD-Xi. Perhaps the conversion from USB to USB-C is filtering. Not certain, well I do not know what I am doing anymore.

Ed - thx so much for your JD-XI series, I just bought one and you have been a lot if help. Question - I am using a Focusrite Saffire as my audio interface, which makes me have ASIO as my driver. How could I set it up through here? Would I just use in and out midi cables through the audio interface? ...or would there be a way to utilize the USB as you do here?

I have speakers specifically for my JD-Xi, and speakers specifically for my computer. Can I still use my JD-Xi's speakers while connected to Ableton or does the sound need to run through the computer speakers?

Had this for 2 years and still cant get audio drivers set up in cubase elements 10.5 on macbook pro. It is a frustrating keyboard. Just completely silent when connected to cubase!

Please, does anyone know or have figured out how to open up the jd xi bin file after exporting it into a laptop or isn't that possible. I have tried everything. Has anyone ever exported their beats into Ableton live from the jd xi and can you export your patterns into ableton live, does anybody know, if so, how please? Thank you for the video. I'm having an issue however, when I arm each individual midi channel the signal is not clean e.g drum kick skips. It's clean whilst playing through the audio channel alone without arming any midi channels but this means I can't record the individual sequences to edit later on. Please help

Can anyone help me please: I connect my Roland JD-Xi synth as a MIDI device and recorded some chords with it. I used its own effects, no plugins from the DAW, because the JD-Xi already had the sound I wanted to. However, as I didn’t use any plugins that were on the DAW, when I disconnect my synth the sound I recorded losts its effects (the ones that only the synth has). So, since that I’m looking for a way to download the “internal plugins” from the JD-Xi synth on Waveform, or to download a digital version of the JD-Xi to use with the DAW. I just don’t know what I have to do. Probably none of these two options are the answer because I’m no expert in all of this. Please help me!

I have problems with this in Windows 7, Ableton Live 9 Lite. I can't get the option to send the midi out to the JD-XI.it only gives me the option to send it to other midi tracks setup in the DAW.

Why does the drums have to be on midi channel 10, and does anyone, somebody know on here how would you be able to get 4 more tracks to make 8 tracks? How would you just record somethibg else on channel 4, 5, 6, etc using the jd xi? There is absolutely no information on this anywhere that I can find? You have 4 tracks on the jd xi, but how can you get 4 more to add on? This is so confusing? Anybody have any advice or can steer me in the right direction please? Thanks

Ed i have an issue. I dowloaded the proper driver and everything, set it to my audio input and output then set it to audio 1/2 and monitored it. But there's no sound.

I've setup audio in Ableton Live 10 as you indicated in the video, and i can see the meters showing input and the Master showing output, but I don't get any sound through my laptop speakers or headphones. Please Help thank you

how do I do this on a PC? The MME/Direct X and ASIO are the only driver options I have. With the MME I set both input and output to JD XI and no sound, and with ASIO you only have the option to choose "audio device," which I also tried and got no sound. sos pls

This is all pretty straightforward, but is there a way to record the audio from each Part onto seperate audio tracks once you have a program running all 4 parts? As setup here, it would bounce all the audio to one audio track and you wouldn't be able to edit the audio for each part; the only solution I see is to mute all but one part and record them in one at a time. It just seems like a step backwards once they're all running together on the JD-Xi. Am I missing something?

Hello Ed Please Help! I have an issue connecting my jdxi to my computer (windows 10). 1.) I downloaded the driver 1.0 (it shows its installed) 2.) I am using Cakewalk SONAR X1 which came with my samson studio gt speakers 3.) I have successfully connected the jdxi to cakewalk and sound is coming through the program The issue is the sounds are basic. 128 patches show up but They are not sounds that are all modified on the jdxi. How can I fix this? i want to use the sounds AND all the knobs on the jdxi to produce the sounds and not just use it as a midi controller on Sonar X1. my input is JDXi, my output is Microsoft Wavelength. when i changed the output to JDXi NO SOUND comes out at all, so it seems like the MS Wavelength has to be the output. Any suggestions? I really want to play my JDXi just as i can when its not plugged into the computer when i connect the synth to cakewalk sonar x1

my Abelton 10 live lite does not show CoreAudio under drivers. it only shows No Audio, and MME/DirectX. My Roland JD-Xi driver is installed and working properly according to the device manager.

Got sound and everything. The latency issue is terrible can not get it in sync. I tried with the tr8s and now this . I’m done .
