I’m looking to get a portable interface that carries 8 or more outputs. Quick question, is it possible to route the headphone outputs to DAW 9/10 and 11/12? I saw that the ADAT outputs are by default 9-16 and 17-24.

Just a thought, a hardware remote that communicates via USB through the computer to move the EVO front panel to the desktop when the EVO is out of reach (rack mounted away or in the control room away from a single person recording themselves.

Looks great! One step away from ordering this. Would love to know if I can use this with my hybrid Eurorack setup! Are the inputs DC Coupled to receive CV signals?
@weareevoaudio

The inputs are DC blocked so it's not possible to receive CV from the inputs. You can send CV signals out of the outputs however.

First off, Thank you Audient for putting out what looks to be a great product. The 8 channels is something I was hoping for. I was hoping for Thunderbolt 3 but maybe the next interface. I am also looking at the ASP800 and ASP880 to make the 24 tracks. My question is; If I have the EVO 16 and either the ASP800 or ASP880 or both using ADAT. Will the Smart Gain function work to set the volume on the ASP800/880 units as weld or does it only work on the EVO 16 unit itself? I was happy to see your reply about the Mac M1 and that EVO 16 is compatible with it. Thank you for your time and have a great day. Stay safe and may God bless..... Jon
@weareevoaudio
@weareevoaudio 2 жыл бұрын
The Smartgain function will only work on the built-in pre-amps of the EVO 16 I'm afraid. As the ASP880 and ASP800 use fully analogue pre-amp controls, there's no way we can remotely set the gain in the same way we can on the EVO's.

Can you gang three of these together and use the smart gain feature across all the units? If so, will all three need to connect to the PC via USB, or would the second and third units be connected to the primary via optical cable?
@weareevoaudio

I'm afraid it's not possible to daisy chain multiple EVO 16's together on the same computer. Instead, we'd recommend using EVO 16 as the host and then adding ADAT pre-amp units such as the ASP800 or ASP880 to increase the channel count.

It is technically possible but not what the EVO 16 was designed for, a single EVO 16 with a dedicated pre-amp unit such as the ASP800 would be a more elegant setup.

Hi! Can I send virtual instruments from my computer through Evo 16 outs to a mixer in order to play backing tracks live?

Yes, you can use the 8 line outputs to feed a mixer using the DAW THRU function in the mixer. You can also add an additional 16 output channels using the digital outputs using an ADAT compatible DAC.

I'm slightly disappointed that there is no way to monitor inputs through headphone outs on the EVO16 if the interface is not selected in macos as the main out. I was hoping we could maintain internal routing and monitoring of microphones on EVO while using different interface as output from DAW...
@weareevoaudio
@weareevoaudio Жыл бұрын
This should be possible on the EVO 16, you'd just need to open the EVO mixer app and pull up the faders for the Mic 1-8 tracks which will send them directly to the headphone outputs with almost zero latency. This should work regardless of whether the unit is the main output device on your Mac or not.

Can you use a external compressor with the evo 16?
@weareevoaudio
@weareevoaudio 2 жыл бұрын
You certainly can, you'd just connect the Compressor to one of the line outputs of the EVO 16 and bring it back in again on one of the Line inputs. You'd just then need to route the audio from your DAW to the output using the mixer application.

Somebody please help me. I have been unable to change the Sample Rate on my EVO 16. I am attempting to send the optical out into my apollo twin x, but it's defaulted to 96khz. I would like to use 48khz so that I can use all 8 inputs. I have scoured the internet but been unable to find where to adjust the sample rate on the interface. Please help.
@weareevoaudio
@weareevoaudio 4 ай бұрын
The sample rate adjustment is done on the computer it is connected to. If you are on macOS, you can do it from the Audio MIDI setup or if you are on WIndows, you can do it directly from the EVO Mixer's setup menu. Once you've done this you can go to Setup > Store Standalone in the EVO mixer to store thsi setting to the unit itself so you can use the EVO 16 without a computer connected.

What type of USB does the EVO 16 use, USB 2, or USB 3?
@weareevoaudio
@weareevoaudio 2 жыл бұрын
The EVO 16 uses USB2.0 data over a USB-C connection as this is more than enough for the 50 channels of audio the EVO handles which means the EVO 16 can be used with practically any modern computer. The EVO 16 has a 'Standalone State Mode". This allows you to save a setup to the unit itself and it will default to this setup whenever it's powered up, even if not connected to a PC. This therefore could be used to connect your TV up to your speakers.
