I keep my channel faders at the very top and use the trims to increase volume of individual tracks that might need adjusting. I see people trying to do it the way your talking about and they end up accidentally hitting them channel faders and they tend to move easier. I also sometimes use my channel faders when i scratch etc so makes it easier for me to keep them up and make any adjustments from the trim volume know. And you cant accidently move those.

The proper way to set the input gain is to set it at 0dB on the meters. This is usually the highest green colour in the meters at the loudest point in the song. This then gives you headroom to use the bass, mid and treble. Adjust with every song you play to keep the volume consistent between different songs.

Nice video for the new djs. That hiss though, shouldn’t be happening. Upgrade your XLRs💯

I had mine on -10db whilst I was playing and I was getting input clip, my dj controller was reclining a bit for some tunes with trim at 12 o clock and volume nearly at mix on the controller. Next time I'll put on 0db, yeah I'm stupid

Could having your gains set too high on your mixing console damage your hearing as well as damage your speakers.
@travisgulley26522 жыл бұрын
Because the volume is controlled from the mixing console itself Do the knobs on the power amplifiers control the input stage and not the volume and should the knobs on the front of the power amplifiers be turned up really high and not be turned down too much in order to prevent distortion.

Can a rack Mount preamp such as the rockvillEe ppa51 preamp be a alternative to use a mixing console.
@Djshaw1kinglegend2 жыл бұрын
Yes but try and find the best one u can afford. Not too sure on t.he rockville preamps😟. My go to would be a old Gemini preamp or a old crown preamp more expensive than the Gemini but 👍🏾 great. Oh yeah borh hard to find check ebay or reverb.

What is don't understand is, you set the gains for that first song. But, the next song could be recorded at a completely different level and be too quite.

Hey once you set your gain rule is to leave it and then use your line levels or master for additional volume. Thanks for watching

Any amp recommendations to power srx 828 and 835? Passive cabniets
@Djshaw1kinglegend3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching, best budget amplifier would be berhinger inuke nu12000 and nu6000 or if you can spend alittle more try get a cvr d2004 or d3002.

@@Djshaw1kinglegend berhinger reliability is terrible I’ll try the cvr for sure

My biggest enemy has been, which knob do you use to increase the volume once the place gets packed? I always want to increase the volume on my mixer. Also you never increase from the speakers right? Lol and damn my system may be too small. I got 2 EV tops with 2 EV 18 inch subs that I’m still trying to master to keep that limit light from coming on
@Djshaw1kinglegend2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. Yes u should use the master volume on mixer to go louder. Leave gain knobs on mixer alone lol. Yes u can increase your volume on the speakers as well I wouldn't go pass the 12 o'clock position though to avoid clipping issues but I'm not sure which model Ev's ur using but they all are pretty good at 12oclock position maybe alittle more for the high end models ekx,etx, etc.
@shon80882 жыл бұрын
@@Djshaw1kinglegend hey I have the ELX 115’s so they are kind of old. No matter what I do I keep finding either the tops or the subs are clipping or “limit” is showing. I’ve been outside my last few gigs so I’m wondering I was trying to hard to compete with outside. But my fear is that I need more speakers lol
@Djshaw1kinglegend2 жыл бұрын
@@shon8088 yes more speakers less stress, 2 speakers on a pole and 2 subs is not suited for every situation gotta think of venue size and occupants. Anything over 100 people increase your speakers by 1 top and bottom per 50 or so people to avoid over driving them to clipping. A little bit of clipping occasionally is fine, what u don't want is steady red that means over heating issues and or too much distortion. Watch my setting gain video that may help some. 👍🏾✅🔊
