We are getting technical this week with an in-depth look at how to set your own Volvo Penta D2-50 valve clearances as recommended for the 600 hour service. This is also valid for the Volvo Penta D2-55. It is a hot day and a sweaty job but totally do-able with only basic tools required.

This is quickly becoming a forgotten skill, with modern engines having overhead cams and hydraulic lifters. Like the few remaining guys who can still work on mechanical distributors with points, condensor, vacuum cans and mechanical advance systems. Nicely done, Gerard 😊

Very straight and easy to do on these engines, so almost anyone can do a DIY. Just a little hot and sweaty in the tropics.
