Hello Darren. I think you don't understand fine the method for use it. The two antennas needed the same gain at time and after modify the phase. For this, decrease the gain of main antenna (usually have more gain than rx antennas used) and decrease a bit the rx antenna. You first need to find the point where all the noises (or the better s/n ratio) you have. At this point, the two antennas have the same gain. Then you can move the phase Potenciometer to kill the noise. You can see it in a video of my channel.

Impressive, but maybe you can explain something for me. The QRM was bad, but the QSO signal was still stronger, pusing the S-meter to 9. When you turned on the QRM Eliminator, the QRM went away, but the S-meter dropped to about S-2 on that strong signal. What caused the dramatic drop on the S-meter without any audible loss in signal strength?

I agree that a shorter sense antenna would be desirable so it only picks up the local noise and use vertical polarization on the sense antenna.

You should be using a MUCH shorter aux antenna. You will not get the full effect of that device when the auxiliary antenna is also receiving The wanted signal. The antenna should be a 3 ft piece of wire or shorter so that it only picks up The unwanted local noise and not the signal of the other transmissions you want to hear

@raysult This is only true when the noise its near to your station. The better option it's the same gain for the two antennas in general. If the noise its far from you, it's better a gain antenna in the exterior.

You would need to connect the QRM Eliminator between the PW1 and you Radio. As far as connections behind the QRM Eliminator, Aux Antenna is connect to the sensing antenna. The TRX goes to your HF Radio, and the Main Ant is connected to your PW1 Amplifier.

I have a different problem, I have a noise floor of s3-4 normally, but I get a broadband burst every 15 seconds with a 12-13 second duration. Totally overwhelms the receiver. I don't think that it can be phased out. Still, for ambient noise with a consistent noise level, it seems to be the ticket. Thanks for the video. 73, Al

Al, It will be hard to tune out the broadband burst. You might see if you can find the source of interference. At least check if you can find out if it's originating from your house.

I just bought it last week and still trying figuring out its pattern. Now my auxiliary antenna has some distance to my main antenna, cancelling the noise is a little tricky; I need to cancel out different noises for different phases. Sometimes when two noises came in with different phases, there is a trade off. I've discovered that putting Gain 2 at level 5 (middle), it can do the job most of the time by only adjusting phase knob. However, when auxiliary antenna cannot reap enough noise, Gain 2 need to be at level 10 (highest) while Gain 1 should reduced to some extent. All in all, when spare time comes, I'll try for put both of the antennas close to see the result. Literally, I guess using beam antenna as the main should benefit a lot from this toy.

On the back of your radio, you will need to connect a coax from your radio's tx/rx to the TRX of the QRM Eliminator. Keep in mind, you will need to have another antenna (Sensing Antenna) of almost equal receive strength in order to properly cancel out the RFI.

@Ei2iP
@Ei2iP 2 жыл бұрын
Ok the reason this is not working is because your rx antenna needs to receive the noise the same or louder than your HF antenna. If not, your rx antenna is not good enough. If you rx antenna can't get the qrn louder the your HF antenna, how do you expect to cancel the qrn. All you are doing is reducing the gain of the antennas, plus you can't test it while listening to a station! I have the mfj1026 and my rx antenna picks up everything.

Congratulations on the Super Yaesu 101MP. It's a beast of a Transceiver! Don't mark my words, but if the QRM Eliminator is turned off and bypassing the circuitry, I believe you can transmit 200Watts. Maybe first try 120 Watts and work your way up to 200 Watts. It does get complicated when you start adding antenna switches. I'm just thinking that your QRM Eliminator also needs to have a seperate antenna to sense the interference. First try using it with one transceiver and once you mastered the skill, put in another antenna switch on it. Good luck!

Common mistakes that people do and they THINK they reduce noise. See this part of the video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lcWSqdKG0Z2laIk.html Here you think the noise is down, but you are actually attenuate BOTH the signal and the noise. The signal is already S9+ and when you switch on the eliminator, the signal drops to S2. However the noise also drops to very low levels. You think that you have the correct setting, but in fact all you did is attenuate the signal and the noise! If you try to recover a weak signal with this method, you can never do it! I do not say the x-phaser does not work at all, It is just not the correct setting in this part of the video.
