I wonder if you could help me please. I have managed to set everything up now as I said before. I have positioned it upstairs and when I connect it using ethernet straight to my router it works. However, if I connect it using an ethernet cable via an RJ45 coupler it doesn't pick up the connection. It's a tp link ac1200 c50. So close yet so far away!

Hello, your video is very helpful, but I have a question ... I have several smart devices that have saturated my router, so I want to add a second router to continue adding more devices, in which configuration do the routers distribute the client load? LAN to LAN or LAN to WAN or both? very thankful

Your clip is great - makes setting up a double NAT network easy. However, I have a BT Smart Hub 2 as the ISP router and a Draytek 2862 for the second one. The reason being the BT Smart Hub does not let you assign static IP address to MAC address's where the Draytek does. In the Draytek it is no problem to change the DNS settings etc but regarding the Static IP address's I want it to assign to the various MAC devices, what gateway do I use, the BT Home Hub or the Draytek and doe I use the same range as the as the BT Hub or the daytek (192.168.2.xx? Hope you can advise Peter

Thank you for the video, it is very helpful. I am using my old Plusnet one router as an access point in my new garden room. I've connected it to the house router via an ethernet cable and the wifi in the office is now working a treat. The only problem I have is the orange light and flashing symbol won't go on the second router. Is there a way to stop it telling me it's not connected to the broadband?

Hi - I have Verizon GiG connection via Ethernet cable. When I connect that Ethernet to a switch and then connect two G3100 Verizon routers. I loose wifi access from both on my iPadPro. What is the recommendation if I want both router to work independently using the Ethernet off the ONT and Ethernet switch connecting the routers?

Steve, Same. I have been looking into mesh systems , but the obvious has been nagging me from the start: "a mesh system will STILL decrease bandwidth between access nodes". Using multiple routers makes better sense . the mesh systems seem to be a scam

if there is a second openreach phone line in another room is it possible to use this instead of running ethernet cables around the house. both open reach lines are at opposite ends of the house on different floors so ehternet cable isnt really viable. dont really want to use powerline adapters if i dont have to.

That is an excellent question. Unfortunately I can't test it as I only have the one openreach port here, but I wouldn't have thought it would work to be honest. I would be interested to know how you get on if you decide to try it.

Yes it should still be possible and no you shouldn't need to disconnect the primary router unless the single ethernet port is restricting you from setting the secondary router up.

Video has been very helpful, thanks. Was wondering why so many others advise to change the last digits of the IP address rather than increase the second to last digit by 1 like you do. Will it make any difference with LAN to LAN set up? So change 2nd routers 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 rather than 192.168.1.2?

Changing the third octet will place the router in a different subnet but it will still be able to communicate with the primary router.

I have to be honest as the title implied 2 internet connections here, where you are really discussing using a second router as on access point either via Wi-Fi or ethernet. I was hoping you were going to be discussing connecting 2 routers both to individual broadband connections of one broadband and one 4G router to share load on one network. I don't suppose this is something you have done and plan to make a video about? I have added routers as access points and have now moved on to mesh networks as I have just got too carried away with smart home devices! Good video, keep up the good work.

This drove me mad with conflicting info. He said when doing a "LAN to WAN" connection, to make router #2's IP address 192.168.1.51.... then several minutes later in the video, he said to make sure Router #2's IP address falls in between Router number 1's IP range... which was 192.168.1.2 & 192.168.1.50.... which would make one of these instructions incorrect. So I had to stop there and give up after taking notes and spending an hour getting everything ready ugh
