This video didn’t age well. Just kidding but seriously my mind is blown that TP-Link has a switch that doesn’t require external power and it doesn’t require PoE. It can run off of the normal tiny bit of power that’s carried over the

Vid is very informative. Only thing I'd like to add from personal experience working right at the 100m length with direct burial rated cable that you must crimp your own ends. I can't stress enough how important it will be to your sanity to invest in name brand crimper tools and name brand connectors. In my case Klein brand passthrough connectors and crimping tool finally fixed an intermittent dropout problem that caused me much headache using cheap crimpers and connectors. It's one of the few tools I believe in buying high end now. Again, great video otherwise.

An "Uplink Port" is Just Like any Other Port, However FASTER. On Switches The Faster: 10 Gig SFP+, Ports, Aren't Usually Called UPLINK. However, they're Used to Connect, To Other Switches. An "Uplink Port" is Just Like any Other Port, However FASTER. It Aggregates Devices Behind it. You Might Have 20 Computers Connected To a Switch in 1 Building and Another 20 Computers, Connected To a Switch in Another Building. The Two Switches are Connected Together Using the Faster 10 Gig SFP+, Ports. Connecting All 40 Computers. An "Uplink Port" is Just Like any Other Port, However FASTER. On a Router, These Faster Ports Are Called "UPLINK". 40 Computers and Slower Gigabit Ports, Will All Have To Aggregate and Use the FASTER "UPLINK" Ports. An "Uplink Port" is Just Like any Other Port, However FASTER. You Dont Have To Use The Faster UPLINK Ports on a Router to Connect To the Internet. You Can, Use any Other Ordinary Port and Set-Up Routing, Layer-3 Switching on Them. However, 40 Computers Will Then Have To Squeeze, through a Narrower Pipe. An "Uplink Port" is Just Like any Other Port, However FASTER. On a Switch: The Faster SFP+ Aren't Called "Uplink", because Switches: Cross Connect Computers and Devices. Cross Connected Computers and Devices, Can ALL Talk to Each Other. A Router: (A Router on a Stick) - Doesn't Cross Connect, Computers and Devices. The Computers and Devices, behind a Router: They Ask the Router, To Fetch Data for Them. (e.g. Using NAT: Network Address Translation). They Aren't Cross Connected to Computers, On the OTHER Side of the Router.

Quantum Fiber (USA ISP) 360 wifi mesh pod system is horrible for gaming, i have insaine ping spikes usually every 30-60 seconds going from 66ms all the way up to 800ms spikes, and its infuriating. Ill be saving for a good wifi 6e router to replace the mesh system given to me by my isp, since i dont want to start another house project of running ethernet drops to every room.

Explanation of what to do in Geek Jargon is too fast and the CMD window you display is too small to see what to type. It may be a doddle, like a second lingo but not for the regular or intermediate joe.

I have tried the TP Link AV 600. I needed to extend to my metal garage 120 feet behind my house. It worked intermittently at best and only on a clear day with the door OPEN to my garage.... I was also using it for wasted my money! Now I'm looking again...

I was going to buy one of these as I need to iprove the wifi that is coming into my studio room. The studio is across the garden outside of the main house. It has it's own fuse box in it so does that mean it wouldnt work? The router is in the main house. If you (or anyone in the coments who knows) could let me know that'll be ideal. I have an Ethernet lead that is long enough to go from the house to the studio, so I could hardwire my desktop, but then I'll still have the same issues regarding the weak wifi reaching my Macbook, tablet etc. If this won't suffice, then it there some sort of aerial that I can simply connect via the ethernet lead, that will just boost the signal in the studio room? Cheers

Hi I have bought this kit, I understand the smaller unit goes into my wifi router with cable, and the larger unit into a normal electric socket and the wifi signal goes through the electric circuit. So I will plug this in the kitchen on an exterior facing wall as I have a wireless battery operated spotlight camera out there. But I also have an add on wireless camera on the summerhouse about 50 ft away from main house but still has electric power provided by same circuit/fuse board. Which add on extender do I need to buy to plug in in the summerhouse to get this add on wireless camera to work please ? Both cameras use lithium non rechargeable batteries which should last 2 years but feed back says only really last 1 year but because of the weak wifi signal they are flat in 36 hours 🙄😤 so I am hoping this system through the electric circuit will solve the problems.

Does the part where you mention adding 28 bytes to the maximum packet size that doesn't require fragmentation apply if you are ONLY using this router for VPN traffic? I ask because the maximum packet size that pings through the VPN without fragmentation is 1472. This plus 28 equals 1500 which is the router default. So I would just leave it at the default?
@Zeric1
@Zeric1 Ай бұрын
Yes, leave it at default. The majority of people have no need to be changing the MTU, there are edge cases where it can help, but it's not needed for most. If one's speedtest performance on a hardwired connection gives them roughly the speed they expect, then there is no reason to delve further. This is only something to muck with if one is having performance issues on hardwired connections. I say hardwired connections because performance problems in WiFi are common and much more likely to be related to something else.

Multiple switches are normally used when dealing with a server lab environment. Most servers will have multiple Ethernet ports. Running them all to a single switch is not recommended. Running them to multiple switches is called redundancy. If one switch port goes bad, you will still have the other port, plus the other switch and it's Ports. This is if you have two cables going to each switch, on a 4 port Ethernet card installed in your server. I have two 18 port switches and one is nearly full while the other is half full. Plus a wireless router running all other devices.

Will the extender remember my Wi Fi network address and password as I unplug it and move it to its desired low single part of the house? I just bought the AV200 second-hand on eBay, to be honest it looks unused and I can see why. The instructions are totally useless. This is worse than Chinglish. There's a micro CD ROM that I cannot be bothered with and various contradicting written instructions, all claiming to be Quick Start guide.

Thanks ! Have a question , just purchased two sets of D-link DHP AV600 power line extenders, one extender connected by ethernet cable to my internet modem in the basement ( Telus 1 gig) two connected to two internet TV boxs and one to internet phone land line, I did this for better reception for phone and TV , however all three extensions show Ethernet light red and reception cuts off or is poor , if I disconnect two extenders , the one extender is on all three lights green , any tips to get all three extenders operating on green light? Thanks again.
