How to Sew a Flatlock Stitch on Your Overlocker / Serger

This technique can be used to create seams and to sew hems, resulting in a flat stitch.
The machine used in the video is a Janome 9300DX. The settings used for this machine will be similar for any make or model of overlocker / serger. Refer to your manual for more details.

How much seam allowance does this use? I'm thinking none?

There is a slight overlap of the fabric in the seam, so the seam allowance taken is the width of the overlocking stitch. In this case approximately 6mm.

This technique can’t be produced on a coverstitch machine. A similar effect can be created with a coverstitch machine by topstitching seams that have been sewn on a sewing machine or overlocker… I will post more videos soon showing the various methods ☺️

Did you lose your screw? Should tighten needle screw, so it doesn't rattle out while you stitch.
