Thanks, this was super helpful. Other tutorials say you just have to turn on file sharing and then the Mac should appear in the PC's network locations. They all leave out the step mapping the network drive.

That was great. Thanks for the time in making that video. One thing that stumped me was my windows machine couldn't map the macbook drive....until I restarted the Mac. Then it worked perfectly. Hope this might help someone else.

I didn’t understood why you have written "WINDOWS", when you connected to the MAC folder, which you have created before. It didn’t work for me. But it worked to write "MAC" after the IP address(or other name, given to the folder on Mac). Nevertheless, it was a great tutorial. Thanks!

Hello, thanks for this great tutorial video. Could you please help me with the following: I use to work with certain files, mostly in MacBook. These files are changed on daily bases. From time to time I have to travel and then I take with me a W11 laptop where I use the files I previously copy one by one from my MacBook. Wile working on the W11 laptop the work files get modified and once back home I have to copy them back to the MacBook. If you have problem with wrong password, it's not always problem with pass but also with login. In mac on sharing window right click on user, click information, look at the "where" section, there is how you should write your user as login in windows.

as a second, less important question. Then what is the use of a Workgroup... or better expressed: what is the difference with a Workgroup and this way of sharing via SMB with a mapped drive

So Mac OS doesn't share a folder via DNS name? Pointing to the IP address is flawed because there's no guarantee that the DHCP server will always assign the same IP to that device, especially on a large LAN where mobile devices constantly come and go. I always use the DNS name, or set a static IP, possibly a MAC address to IP reservation, if possible.

My apple ID and Password, my MAC username and Apple Id password or MAC computer passcode to open the computer or my windows Microsoft account password? Or WiFi password?
