To my expirience it's worth the time filing. A sharp chain cuts MUCH faster, saves gasoline, saves my energie, reduces the wear out of the bar, prevents a too hot engine. Best of all is for me to see big clean woodchips whirling around like snow! Woody greetings from Switzerland

Awsome. I always use my Sthil file kit. I hate a dull chain.and I hate rakers cut to short. Can't plunge cut on a leaner. 😊 God bless from Pennsylvania USA.

That's how I was taught to handle all metal files. Only forward stroke, then lift. I was taught to also keep a well chalked file. This helps to keep your file sharp and not to let it get loaded up with filing dust. Just use regular blackboard chalk sticks. Thank you for tutorial!

Use the Stihl 2 in 1 sharpener. It's easy, you file the tooth and the depth gauge at the same time and do half the work.

I have the same tool, but I can't work out how you use it to do the rakers, so I have a different tool I use for them.

Stihl make a file sharpener , that has a raker file as part of it. About $60. Australian, pretty fool proof.

Thanks for that , what about the rackers do you file those at all? And what you say is right sharpen it more for safety your saw is less likely to get jammed if you get your compressions wrong.

Stihl make a file holder that includes a raker file in it, it's about $60 Australian, I've been told about every third sharpen to touch up the rakers. I don't think they realise, how lucky they are in the Northern hemisphere with all their softwoods. Australia must have some of the toughest hardwood in the world. 😅😅

@FINNISHLUMBERJACK G'day, it's not the just the fact there are over 700 types of eucalyptus trees, it's all the other types of hardwood, redgum is tough & that's one of the softer" hardwood. They talk about walnut etc for table tops, the grain and colour , are spectacular , especially fiddleback. Enjoy your Sunday.

@@FINNISHLUMBERJACK every tank of fuel with hard wood. That's why firewood is such a big deal & effort. I would offer to make a bet that chainsaw dealers in Australia are the most profitable in the world due to chain & bar sales. Basically if your a tree faller , aborist, firewood supplier , they purchase rolls of chain and make them , themselves. Cheers 🍻

остро заточенная цепь имеет меньшее сопротивление при пилении древсины, тупая цепь -больше шлифует, греется и растягивается при нагрузке

Yard trees often have nails that ruin the chain. Many sawmill companies don't even take them. The birdhouse should not be fixed with nails, it damages the wood too.

не всё показали! а еще надо прикладывать трафарет хускварна и подтачивать уровень "плавника акулы" (ограничителя глубины) относительно острия чизеля зуба! для мягкой древесины - зазор больше, для дуба, бука, клёна - меньше
