I came here to learn how to trade after listening to a guy on radio talk about the importance of investing and how he made $460,000 in 4 months from $160k. Buy low sell high like you do normal stocks, sell high buy low as in gambling that the stock will drop and when I say gamble, I mean you choose it from trade options if you want but you have to buy a 100 shares of how much it's worth at the time(the gamble) which is why most people on the comments say its not recommended for new or growing investors.

Great video and explanation of the dangers. I do not recommend any new investors tries to short stocks. You can lose a great deal of money and a new investor simply won't have the experience and knowledge to do this. It is nothing more than gambling for most new investors.

Feds got this market so propped up, that shorting is the last thing I would do. Dollar cost averaging is the best strategy for newbies. I would rather someone do a call option on a run up (example: this morning I purchased wayfair 207.5 calls 7/02 expire. I turned every 200 dollar contract into over 1k today. Catching a run up and selling the same day before market close is the safest strategy for options.

Biotech stocks are probably the most dangerous stocks to short. If one of their drugs is approved by the FDA, the price of the stock can spike dramatically. With high volatility stocks, it's probably best to look into credit put spreads instead. Since I'm brand new here, I'm not sure if Brian has a video on how to do that.

So how is shorting something a risk of unlimited losses? I'm relatively new to options trading. I use Robinhood, so if I short something, the price is, whatever. Say my put option cost me $100. If the price skyrockets and my expiration date comes along, it'll show that I lost $100. Are you saying there's a way that I could owe -more- than my original $100 price tag?

using simple math wouldn't it be better if in your example of both stocks going up of ally bank and BAC to not short BAC because then your buying back BAC stocks at a higher price than before your still making money but you could make more if you had not sold and rebought BAC

Hey Brian thanks for the great informative info..I am on a fixed income and never ever never ever considered or even imagined myself investing for many reasons...1 is because I have always thought of investing as gambling (as ignorant as that might sound) and I am a terrible gambler with bad luck, secondly I just don't have the disposal of income...but I have learned much from your presentations...oh an hurry up and put today's stimulus update video ..I have seen some headlines mentioning how Trump is promising a very generous stimulus..but he glorifies everything so I don't put much stock( NPI) in his comments.
