I watched your vibrato lesson, and started singing "she she she" in the car, and the other exercises. Finally I got the fainest vibrato. I stuck with it and now I have a strong vibrato. I had to find the right muscles and started excersicing them every day to make them stronger. Now they know what to do! Thank you! :)

It’s nice to see people giving genuine lessons without trying to throw their books down your throat. I can sing nicely, like my entire family but my singing voice isn’t as loud as I’d like it to be and this will really help. Thank you so much genuinely 👍🏼.

719/5000 your every video is a pearl of wisdom, Chuck. It is amazing how this SLS technique manages to make everything sing easily without being tired in the end. All your exercises are truly extraordinary. Since I follow this singing technique (and any type of song that was previously impossible to sing) it is truly amazing. Do you think that before Christmas I did three shows for schools, in the morning, three shifts, one after the other, and after almost five hours of singing and acting I was still active and without feeling any tiredness in the vocal cords. I performed an accurate vocal warm-up before going on stage, downloading your warm-up exercises from youtube. Great Chuck! ;) Sorry for my English. I help myself with the google translator ahahahaha

Good that you say what key you start at,a2 ,b3 and so on. I do each of the exercises for 3,5 minutes ,this gives me a good work out . In your demonstration because of the time factor you do 3 or 4 efforts ,might be an idea to give an indication of how long to practice for those people who are new too singing, they might get the idea you only have to do the exercise a few times.

Chuck, i struggled for months before i finally found your wonderful channel and took your vocal type test. I owe where i am today largely to your help and i cant tell you how much i appreciate what you have done for me. Once i was finally able to bridge the passaggio smoothly then later finally remove all that extrinsic tension it was amazing. I'm working on vibrato now, i have it but it needs a lot of work but i'll get there. Thanks again for what you do and these exercises are absolutely critical to getting there over time. I met in person my favorite singer, Tim Foust of the A Capella Group Homefree, IMO the best bass singer on the planet with a 5 octave range, he lives near me and i asked him what is the best way to develop low notes - He said work on the high notes and it will improve your low notes. I've done that and somehow i can sing an F1 note i never thought i could do that! And top hi note is now an A5!

i joined a voice gym a month back and my teacher asked me to keep adding higher notes to my regieme. without doubt i am suffering from sore throat for the last two weeks and all the advice that i got was to stop practice when i feel uneasy and reduce the pitch of my practice! gosh! i just found this channel and certainly going to take a break from my course and give this a try. Is there any excercises to soothe sore vocal cords please?

Bubble lips exercises will help a lot. However, you may want to take several days off and see if the pain goes away. If it does not, go see an ENT Dr. ASAP to make sure they are not damaged before starting up again. Really, this is very important.

I found you years ago on youtube when I first started my singing journey. I ended up going down the rabbit hole of singing instruction videos on youtube. I ended up trying out many courses and here I am, back to you, realizing you really know what you are talking about, lol. I do have one question.... What do you think about other exercises, like sirens and slides, and exercises for resonance, etc. like ng exercises. Just curious. I have a collection of 100s of exercises, but I am starting to think that the only ones I need are the ones for the pulled chest/high larynx, with the bratty nays and the dopey gees and lip trills, etc. Once we develop our mixed voice, do you suggest continuing to do these exercises to maintain the coordination and muscle memory?
@PowerToSing
@PowerToSing 3 жыл бұрын
I don't use the sirens or slides so I really don't have experience with them. I haven't needed to use them in the last 11 years of full time teaching. I still do the the bratty neys, dopy gees and lip trills. But I don't have to use the real exaggerated bratty or dopy sound. Generally, You can discontinue those once you have a connected tone without straining. Once in a while they are helpful for sure...but you don't want to get in a habit of singing with the exaggerated sounds.

Power to sing, I've never had a vocal coach and I've always been told I am a great singer and I am good. I can go high and low and in between but the only thing I want to be able to do is hit Elvis's note at the end of his live version of "just pretend" and in my dreams "American Trilogy". But when I try my voice just gets strained and I can't hit it. Can you help?

@PowerToSing
@PowerToSing 2 жыл бұрын
I would add it to what you are doing. No need to do it exclusively. Do it with your other exercises. Do them long enough that you form a new vocal habit that helps you whenever you sing.
@stevegray2091
@stevegray2091 5 ай бұрын
These exercises help with the "bridge". Your vocal cords don't contribute that much to loudness. What gives loudness, power, and control is correct resonating in the pharynxes -- especially the laryngeopharynx for lower tones. There is a difference between a pharyngeal vowel (resonated in the pharynxes) and an oral speech vowel (placed in the mouth).

Hello, Mr. Gilmore. Is pressing your hands on your cheeks an essential part of bubble lips exercise or just a thing to make the exercise easier to do properly? I've tried to do the exercise with and without the help of my hands, and the sounds seem to be almost the same.

It just makes it easier to do properly. I still cant do it without hands on cheeks i guess some have it and some don't! I can do tongue trills tho with no hands so i do those sometimes too, tongue to top of hard palate.

What is the difference between bubble lips and Lip trills ?? And when we do lip trills, what is the position of layrnx we should maintain ??? Is it low or high position ??
@PowerToSing

No difference between bubble lips and lip trills, except lip trills translate to other languages more accurately. Do this exercise correctly and the larynx will stay at your speech level.

@PowerToSing
@PowerToSing Жыл бұрын
Hi CGF: It's because your larynx is coming up. Try and stay "dumb" or "dopey". This will help keep the larynx down and stop the crack. Also cut the loudness in 1/2 and see if that will help too. In other words, do it softer/easier.

Sure you can. You've got to find the sweet spot where your lips and air play nice and bubble slow and easy. Don't blow air too hard, put your fingers down along your jaw line and then push your skin upwards. Your fingers will feel your teeth behind your cheeks. See if that helps. Even if you can do it for a second....pretty soon 2 secs. then 3 and pretty soon long enough to do the exercises.

Tongue trills are a great option. With bubble lips place your fingers at the level of your jaw and push up your cheeks. Relax your lips. Don’t blow too hard. The slower your lips bubble the better. You can learn this.
