Soprano Angel Blue gives a master class to young singers from The Royal Opera's Jette Parker Young Artist Programme. Subscribe to our channel and find out more at www.roh.org.uk
The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme is designed to support the artistic development of talented singers at the beginning of their career. Young Artists are employed as salaried members of The Royal Opera over a two-year period, during which time they are immersed in the life of the Royal Opera House.
The Young Artists participate in a specially-tailored programme, which includes extensive daily coaching in languages, stagecraft and vocal techniques, alongside preparing cover roles, and performing concerts and smaller roles on the main stage.
The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme is generously supported by Oak Foundation.

Wonderful coach, wonderful master class. There are definite things about the soprano that she didn’t seem to notice though. Like the lack of register changes, and the breath control issues. But that’s the problem is voice is extraordinary, I love her timbre, her agility, and she actually does sustain notes, just having breath between phrases seems difficult

@gayoperadude63
@gayoperadude63 5 жыл бұрын
The soprano could also have benefitted from using chest voice on F just above middle C it would bring more color to the voice. To me this lightness doesn't clearly covey the madness. In addition she's really breathing a lot more than should be necessary.
@ms.chaewon9231
@ms.chaewon9231 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It seems to me that modern opera singers are into whispering and constricting their voices nowadays. They avoid using chest voice in the low notes. Why is that?
@Empoweredwoman1234
@Empoweredwoman1234 5 жыл бұрын
I agree about the lack of chest voice. Her voice sounds like it only has one colour. I would like to add that I don't think she has the vocal skills for this aria right now. Not only is her breathing all over the place, but she appears to have a kind of revving sound in her florid passages. She lacks control and some of the high notes sound a little squeaky. These days the no longer teach the original Bel Canto techniques of the old Italian School. This is the reason even professional singers lack depth of sound, along with aspirated florid singing.

@ClaraMP // 羊 Subliminals I do remember watching master classes and the teachers working on one thing at a time. Mind you these were violinists and violists, but I'm guessing one thing is enough during a short class.

Un controtenore non sarà mai un soprano o un contralto semplicemente perché è un'altra emissione, quindi un altro strumento.

@Thomas-gm3bd
@Thomas-gm3bd 5 жыл бұрын
You mean an inaccurate sound. As listeners you don't stand right next to the singer. Singers most important lesson is to learn how to be able that even the last person in the seatings has to understand them. On top of that these are microphones for speaking and not singing. That's also why usually only the one leading the masterclass has one and then they place one in front of the singer about 3-5 meters away.

@deniznejatizar8716
@deniznejatizar8716 5 жыл бұрын
You know it requires much more than naming yourself “opera singer” on youtube to sing. Do you have any idea about the mechanism of the lip trill? It is actually so important that it is the core of the long phrases and the sufficient air flow. I suppose you’re another “prophet” of singing with your voice teacher(!) youtube channels with their wikipedia learned terms like squillo and “coordinated” chest. Gosh it is easy to become the expert when it comes to the keyboard and youtube!

opera singer Wow someone goooot aaaaangry :))) so angry that he even forgot how to use proper grammar haha. First of all, keep your dreadful, hypocritical, nasty, delusional comments and your predictions about my background to yourself and stuff them in your ass. You don’t know a single thing about my background nor about myself as a person. Secondly, if you are that confident about the voice, why don’t you show us your singing? And pleaaaaaase, where did you study ? Juilliard ? Haha. Show me your “masters” degree! Gosh thank you so much for making me laugh that much. Once again, keep your hypotheses about my background to yourself. Oh you know what, why you so mad about proving yourself ? Let me tell you why. ‘Cause you ain’t shit and you know that but you wanna prove that you’re something :( oh about the voice lessons... thank you so much but thank god i have my amazing mentors who are ,unlike you, not lunatics and who ,again unlike you, know about the voice and sang/sing on the stages. Hahaha. Thanks again for making me laugh that much, thank god that lunatics like you who think they learn something from “this is poopera!” channel exist, you really are the source of my joy.
