Smith machine over flat bench. I saw more growth using the smith machine than I ever did using regular bench

The muscle soreness and activation too. I could never feel my chest from free bar but with the machine, my chest feels like its being destroyed which is what I wanted

As ever.. this is generalised advise. If you want to hit upper chest, see what a couple of months of benching to the clavicle does to your upper chest

thank you sir, I consider myself and experienced lifter and even got strong on this lift up to 4plates each side. And now Im realizing I was lowering the bar too high close my collar bones and my rotator cuff is screaming for it. I will lower bar to nipple line next time and it feels so much healthier to bench. You need to train your shoulders. Your arms are not proportional to your shoulders. But otherwise good physique though!! One of the top 10%!

Having the bar places in line with my chest allows me to tuck my elbows in slightly more, reducing the amount of front delt (though it’s impossible to fully limit front delt) which allows me to focus majority of the tension on my pecs. 👍🏼

On a regular barbell, sure. But since it’s a smith machine, I believe it takes a lot of the other involved muscles away, therefore you can focus on the pecs only
