I've tried speaking AASL with a friend of mine, but he's got a heavy Greek accent and I've got a French accent. It's really annoying as I've accidentally insulted his mother (from his point of view), while I was merely asking if he was thirsty. This video will prove helpful to the both of us. Thank you so much! Also, don't listen to the haters. I don't see even the slightest bit of an American accent in your AASL!

hey, albanian here! i used to speak AASL back in 1280. one thing you forgot to mention is the SASS gesture, or Severely Animated Scansion Serpent. it is present in some dialects of AASL, you firstly hold your forearm and upper arm in a right angle in a similar position to the SUS, then fluidly wiggle your forearm this is usually used to indicate a snake. the size of the snake varies from the severity of the wiggle, whilst the danger of the snake varies from the speed of the wiggle it was also used in the southern part of the kingdom of albania to indicate royalty, though in the northern part it was used to indicate slyness. in transitional dialects, they used it to mean both things other than that, everything was spot on!

I learned AASL when I lived in New York. The local vernacular pretty much consisted of one sign. I actually found it quite useful when caught in traffic jams.
@USA_UNITED1776

Yes I have memorized it too. Another very useful hand gesture is from Ceuta Sign Language, originating from Spain, where they speak Gibraltan. The sign is🖕.

As a native Nee Yorker I’d like to point out that we have an entire dialect reserved for traffic situations, expanding the already tricky cases into such derívales as the YOUFNOUTTAYOMIND case, the WTF? Interrogative case, the classic FUGGEDABOUTIT case etc.

As a speaker of the Portuguese dialect of AASL, there is an extra type of arm movement called the clap or C. It’s self-explanatory. AASL translation: Cx2S SUSx3F SUSx5S RTFx1 SUSx5S Cx10F LWx6Fsilly RTFx7S Wx6Snotsilly RTFx4S SUSx1 “Portuguese”, SUSx5S RTFx3 SUSx9 RWx1notsilly LWx5silly Cx1 SUSx9 RTFx4F RTFx7S RTFx9F Cx2F “C”. RTFx3F SUSx5F Cx8F RWx6Ssilly RWx8Fnotsilly. Key: x followed by a number means how many times you should produce that arm movement. F means fast, S means slow, and silly and notsilly are self-explanatory.
