Cheers to Ali for joining! Was rather trippy having the legendary BBC interviewer stroll into the studio having watched him interview living legends for many years now. From an emotional interview with Harrison Ford and a hilarious meme filled chat with Tom Cruise, to joking about with Zendaya and Emma Stone, you can watch Ali over on BBC Radio 1: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/padhl8KHv5u8gZc.htmlsi=fkyng4W0vHueeATn

Poor Pete. Chris has replaced him with another bearded, bespectacled Brit. Pete is sitting in his vintage Japanese taxi, crying over a picture of Chris.

9:10 This is actually true. The main rotor will continue to spin as you descend, creating a bunch of drag and slowing you down. You won't be able to control direction if the whole thing fails but if it is just the motor then there is a good chance that even that will still work. It is the same principle as Maple Seeds (Whirligig)

I lived in the UK for a short period of time and when I told someone that I was from Hungary, they always started listing things they knew about Hungary. Puskás, Gulyás, Orbán Viktor, Balaton, and that lovely bread you have with the thick crust :D So, yeah, you do do that as well.

This past April I did pretty much the same route. Hiked the Nakasendo starting in Magome with stops at Tsumago, Kiso-Fukashima, and ending in Narai. Got rained on my way up to the Naria Torii pass and dealt with some snow, but it did add to the scenery. Tsumago is a beautiful preserved town. Had a great time at this is Izakaya called Chikara in Fukushima that's ran by a mother and son. The mother loved having English speakers as guests even though she didn't speak much English. Had a jolly time speaking with some people from Ireland. Matsumoto City was probably the biggest surprise for me. All I knew was that I had to catch a bus from there to go to Takayama. Ended up spending the afternoon there. The view of the Japan Alps from inside the station was beautiful. The castle was surprising enjoyable. I just really loved the vibe of the city. I really want to go back and hike one of the near by mountains and enjoy one of the onsen towns in the area. Also the drive from Kanazawa to Kyoto was fun too with a couple stops at mountain temples in Fukui.

Regarding the helicopter thing.... It's called autorotate. If the motor stops, and the chopper starts moving downward, the downward momentum will start the blades rotating on their own. Hence, auto rotate. Landing will be a Tiny bit bumpy, but yeah, chopper will head downward and, like one of those flippy little seed thingies, it'll sort of float to the ground. Not QUITE float, but yeah, you'll walk away from it just fine.

There was this show on discovery ages ago called seconds from disaster (I think that's where I saw it on at least) and they actually showed a helicopter where the pilot just turned off the engine mid-air and it gently lowered to the ground. He could still steer it and everything.

I've been to Japan 4 times now, every time solo travelling. It is the best place on earth to solo travel from all the places I've visited. Things are tailored to single persons. Unlike it's neighbour where eating out on your own in some places is not possible, would simply be refused single person or have to buy 2 persons portions. (things are getting better there but it was my experience only recently)

Was in Japan 2 weeks ago and have to say the same thing: Osaka was pretty disappointing after all the other cities and I had not enough time in Kyoto Kyoto was soo full, and half of the people were kids in school uniform, that was so interesting Getting into Arashiyama Bamboo Forest was way more congested than the Dotombori Bridge

That list matches our experience. I needed two wallets, one of them is still full of yen coins. Mountains for us also seem to mean rain, Hakone, Nikko, Shirakawago and Takayama all very wet. Still magic, and did make Onsen and just baths in a machiya very rewarding. I loved sitting in the outside hot spring watching the trees gently sway in the wind as clouds drifted by with the sound of a river below.

See you for your reasoning of why Shogun should have a season 2. I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, but thought it ended perfectly. Would I love a second season? Yeah. I don't think a second season would make sense or add anything to the first.

Also splurged on the Park Hyatt for a night on my visit last year. Definitively a 5 star experience. Was disappointed though that the New York Bar doesn't actually have a bar, there is a long table that they filmed just on the one side like it was a bar. Beautiful view at night though.

Me and my kiddos, ages 24, 22 and 20 went last spring and climbing to the monkey park I was struggling. I had to stop several times only to be surpassed by a pregnant woman and a woman in her 70's....the amount of shame I still feel is embarrassing. The monkeys are definitely worth it however! It is 100% the nicest culture....we did Disneysea and I cannot ever do the American parks again, it ruined me! lol
