11:47 As Japanese, I found it funny that Connor would mention "writing competition" as, in Japanese it can be translated to 写生大会(Shasei-Taikai) and the word Shasei(meaning "writing") sounds exactly the same as the word for ejaculation which is 射精(Shasei) so props to the Cdawg for the intentional/unintentional joke. Tldr: Japanese word for "Writing competition" has the exactly same ring to as the word for cumming.

I watched this then looked into it apparently lots of love hotels are basically homophobic and refuses service to same sex couples even though it’s illegal to discriminate against people for there sexual orientation but even if you report them to the police all that happens is they just tell them they can’t do that and that’s it there’s no real ramifications for there actions.

I'm not surprised lol the bad thing about Japanese is xenophobic and homophobic isn't uncommon but you can always just avoid those places since it is possible to do so , ah and also sometimes the police are really lenient and "lazy" since they won't do shit. unless it's a big case

Actually, it isn’t illegal to refuse service to anyone the hotel wants to. Discriminating same sex marriage is actually not banned by any law except maybe some local places. Places like Shizuoka are pushing for gay rights, but most of the rest of Japan can’t really give a shit to gay snowflakes. It’s tough luck when people who act weird are treated as weird.

@RhynoVT
@RhynoVT 9 ай бұрын
@@englishatheart I get that mentality, but this is factually incorrect. Gay people being seen as negative or socially unacceptable is actually pretty recent in many regions when looking at a historical time-scale. For example, homophobia in the West is largely just a Christian invention, further exported and forced upon colonized regions. Homophobia, or more broadly Queerphobia, is not some natural null-position of society or humanity. It's an artificial prejudice that only moves from its own inertia, and it can be eliminated. Don't lose hope.

Not only is the whole concept and the individual hotels interesting, but the running commentary between Connor and Chris never fails to make me laugh. Two handsome guys cracking dry jokes while reviewing strange love hotels, with the occasional post-filming comments, is just so perfect. I wish they would do a sequel to this, maybe revisit the hotels that turned them away and some others with Aki or Sydney or a different woman YTer-or maybe even Natsuki!-to get around the conservative knee-jerk rejection. I’d love to see a whole series of these, just for the banter.!

i know it's cheap and questionable, but going to a love hotel is on my list of things to do when i finally make it to japan on vacation. I think it would make for a very silly date/night out that's quintessentially japanese, and couldn't be experienced in quite the same way anywhere else. Very 1970s american love hotel/honeymoon vibes but maybe a tiny bit more renovated and streamlined.

My elderly dad really wanted to see Japan, and so he booked us a trip there. It was quite awkward when we got to Nara, where he had accidentally booked a love hotel. It was a good hotel and it was fun seeing all the oddities they had put in there, including a tv in the bathtub and a gigantic projector next to the bed. The real awkward part was getting into a taxi with dad and seeing the drivers face when we said we were going to "hotel Love Garden"

Love the content! Always fun times with Chris & Connor... Though, I wonder why you didn't share the name of the hotel that turned you both away. It's helpful info to have!

I still can’t believe I discovered Conner through his Voice impression as Sebastian from Black Butler. How far he’s come (note: I know he’s not the voice actor of Sebastian, I had a mix up of words)

I'm really curious what happens if you try and press the hotels that rejected you for being guys. They don't really have a leg to stand on, but they probably don't get challenged on it usually so I wonder how they'd react.

Loopholes lots of loopholes. Even though Japanese legislation doesn’t allow the denial of same sex couples into a love hotel they c an make some bs reason for denial

@@ShockingPikachu yeah, that seems likely. Honestly something as stupid as "oh it's not about your sexual orientation. We just have a policy of not allowing two men" seems like it might fly in japan

@@ShockingPikachu It doesn't allow denial, but at the same time it doesn't prohibit denial. Japan isn't the west. Still have night clubs that disallow foreigners. Or people who look foreign, as I have found as I tried to get into one with my Japanese Passport
