How I split logs into boards using only axes and wedges. The wedges were made from birch wood using an axes. This log was of pine so then you start the splitting from the top end. On spruce you start from the bottom end, like I did on the foundation log for the log cabin.

Do you color correct your video footage? All the colors are well balanced and the greens are vivid!

You jumped from the complete trunk to wedges already inserted. I wanted to know how you actually START splitting it

He kind of did. That string line he uses marks a straight line where he wants to split, then uses the axe and a hammer to start the crack for the wedges

I have an elm tree 4 ft across. The only way i can turn into 3 inch slab is by doing this. That looked a lot wasier than i think mine will be.

Very curious: why did the top of the pieces split down the length of them a little ways (they weren't supposed to). What do you do to stop that from happening?.

Erik, you're a credit to your generation and the cure for KZfaq hyper-drama reality vlogging. I just started the full playlist of your cabin build. Happy to see you're exploring new aspects of pioneer skills. And you are also becoming an excellent filmmaker!
