How to stabilize wood with epoxy without spending money

Hello friends. I tried to stabilize with epoxy. On an old root that I sprouted from our garden. the epoxy I used is very liquid. It hardens in 12 hours. I used a vacuum refrigerator compressor. For the first time I tried, but it turned out what I wanted. All the cracks and holes were filled, the root healed a lot.
In the next episode, I'll show you how to make a knife from this root.

Здравейте приятели. Направих опит за стабилизация с епоксидна бавна смола. Дървото е стар корен който изрязах от нашата градина. Епоксидната смола което използвах е мн течна . Втвърдява се за 12 часа. Използвах компресор от хладилник за вакуум. За първи път опитвам , но се получи това което исках. Запълниха се всички пукнатини и дупки и корена се заздрави много.
В следващия епизод ще ви покажа как да изработите нож от този корен.

Great work! The bubbling was not boiling. It was the vacuum drawing the air out of the wood. You kind of need to "feather" the vacuum until that stops.

Thanks, great video!! I just did my 1st epoxy stabilization & made sure that I used slow cure epoxy. It's an experiment for a friend of mine that turns turkey calls. I had some spalted wood so, figured I'd give it a try. I use Liquid Glass which cures real slow.

Great job. Looks amazing. Make sure to use an adequate mask when you grind it or you will eventually get a severe pulmonary disease that has no cure.

So good . But how much time to start the hardening of this kind of epoxy, to be effective to penetrate the wood? How much time would be the minimum? Thanks

The epoxy hard for 12 h. After 12 h can make a handle.

@@VatevKnives С какво разтваряш смолата, за да издържи 12 часа и как намаляваш вискозитета? Не загрява ли много под вакуум? Пробвал ли си стабилизация с други полимери?

Самолета е такъв модел. Тя е за леене с нея правят маси и такива неща които се заливат. Доста бавно жилира и става мн добре за попълва е на дупки.

If you could push the epoxy through the wood maybe. The vacumn ( i believe) sucks the air out of the voids and is displaced by the epoxy. Vacumn would be easier. You can send out wood to be stabilized but if you plan on doing a lot a cheap vacumn is under a hundred bucks or free if you do it like the host. Marijuana processors have a vac rig for processing one of their products that would work too. I don't know what they cost tho. Saw a video.

@@VatevKnives ще съм ти признателна. Благодаря. Защото на тези, които питах времето за работа е винаги около от 30-40 мин макс до 60 мин. И мислех да пробвам с полиестерна смола, намерих такава, която втвърдява напълно след 72ч, и 5-6 часа е напълно течна, но не знам дали е подходяща и дали е по-добре от епоксидната.

@@boryanamunteanu6178 Тази която ползвах също втвъдява за 5-6 часа до 12 зависи колко втвърдител сложиш. Може и да е полиестерна аз по скоро попълних книлото и дупките на парчето дърво. За пълна стабилизация трябваше да направя 2 етапа с 2 смоли.
