Position your painter's tape at the TOP of your letter line rather than the bottom. That way you can slide the stamp up until it touches the tape, then tilt it back to see the reflection (for your left-right alighment), plus putting the tape at the top means it won't interfere with any low-hanging letters. Not sure how this would work with mixed-case since I only work with upper case.

Glad to hear you tried your first piece! Don't forget to use those pro polish pads to remove the excess sharpie marker. You can also use a sunshine polishing cloth for added shine!

now that I see this video I have and idea that to keep all letters straight a piece of wood can be clamped on the side to have a perfect 90 degree angle so all lettering will be nice and straight thank you lady :)

Thank you for some helpful instructions. I learned that somethings work and even though you're an "expert" it still didn't work as well as you tried to demonstrate. Which actually helped me to know I that it always doesn't work, even with practice. But I will keep doing it. This wasn't a dig, just an observation. It was a good video. 🙂

All sizes for the letters are listed in the product descriptions for each set. You can also click on the "Create Stamped Jewelry" tap at the top of the site. This page contain helpful charts and information regarding letter sizes, font types, and what size blanks you can use with what letters. All of these are guidelines and you can really work with what you like. Start with a font you like and you will enjoy getting started with stamping! Good luck!

Hi there! I think you are asking about the blanks you can stamp on? We carry a variety of metals. If you are allergic, maybe you should stick to sterling silver. It depends on your sensitivity.

A really, really helpful video. I have been struggling, very much, with stamping. I practiced first, then tried to stamp on a half round 8g metal bracelet. Totally ruined it. 😞. lol

stamping on half round is very very difficult. Either you have the flat side down and you are stamping on the round side where there isn't much flat space to impress into or you have the round side down so it's wobbly. Flat pieces are much easier :)

What a wonderful video! Thanks for the tips! As a baby stamper, I tend to make more mistakes, which makes for "wasted" metal blanks. You mentioned the recycling bin in your video, so would you happen to know of a place we could send used/tattered practice blanks? Thanks!!!

I want to buy upper and lower at once. Also, where is a good place to buy the copper piece to practice. I have so many of these tools already from making other jewelry for years now. I am brand new at this! Amazing video. I bought some inexpensive ImpressArt aluminum blanks from a craft store to practice but when I hole punched the metal pushed out to the other side and is jagged/sharp. The indentation also shows marks on the other side..Is this likely due to the quality of the blanks I am using?

Hi! It sounds like the hole punch you're using may be dull. Or, the metal is too thick for the hole punch. Try changing a factor in the equation to get a better result. For example, try punching a thinner metal. Do you still get a burr around the hole? Yes! Aluminum is nice and soft so just about all stamps for metal will work on it. One of the metals you need to look out for though, is Stainless Steel. Only use stamps on that metal that are rated for Stainless Steel.

We sell the copper sheet in 3 different gauges. 24,22,20 gauge. 20 gauge is the thickest we carry. You have to see which you prefer for your projects. I recommend you get a variety and test them out. www.beaducation.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&qry=copper+sheet

Interesting video. I’m getting ready to stamp my aluminum control box cover. I’m thinking of using blocks to register the vertical position of each letter. Secure a straight metal bar across the piece and use that straight edge to position the flat side of the stamp. Will that work? I might even have another metal block in the vertical direction that moves with each new letter. What kind of fonts do you have? I’m looking for a particular one. Can’t remember the name right now but I’ll get back to you on that. Thanks for the info. Paul

Interesting project Paul. You will need to have something hard behind the cover of the box to add the resistance for the stamps. Seems like your lining up method might work but only with uppercase letters. The lowercase letters aren't always positioned correctly on the stamp. For stamping that really isn't. You need that extra hard resistance under your metal otherwise you won't get a good impression.

Hi! Lisa uses a variety of stamps in this class. The main letter set used is the Beaducation Original Kismet 3.2mm set. You can find that set and MANY more on our website: www.beaducation.com

Do you have to anneal heavier metals, i.e. 20 or 18 gauge nickel silver before stamping? If so, do you need to re-anneal after each stamp?

for metals like Nickel or Brass or sometimes Sterling, yes, I would anneal first. No need for Aluminum. You shouldn't need to anneal more than once unless you are doing a ton of stamping like a big overall pattern.

I purchased the bridgette font (3mm) and it is soooo tiny that I can hardly read it after I stamp them even with blackening the letters. Can you tell me which font (at 3mm) comes out the most legible or largest? Thanks!!

Hi Michele. I have heard this a lot with Bridgette. I think it's just a hard to read font. Some love it, some don't. Here is a link to all our font sets. Hi, I've seen stamping on coins. To do this, would they require a stronger strike or would the same rules apply?

Hi Addie, we suggest using soft metals, ie copper, sterling silver, fine silver, gold filled, silver filled, aluminum, rose gold, nickel silver, pewter. If you're using a harder metal you may need a harder strike, but as we make sure all of our metals are annealed perfectly for stamping, stamping other metals can sometimes be tricky. Good luck!

Sorry, I have never used an arbor press, so I am not sure. The press would have to hold your tool and you would have to be able to properly space between the letters.

Hi! Can anyone tell me how hard of metals I can use? I have one of the cheaper sets and I heard/read somewhere that I should only use the softer metals but I don't know what those are or if it's true? I'm guessing that if I stick with the metals on beaducation's website that I should be ok? If anyone could help me that would be great!

Hi! When we reference soft metals we are suggestion copper, sterling silver, fine silver, gold filled, silver filled, aluminum, rose gold, nickel silver, pewter and so on. Yes, if you stick with metals that we sell you will also insure that you have the correct metal. We make sure all of our metals are annealed perfectly for stamping. Have a great day!

How would I stamp metal if no it want the letters raised and not sunk in and only the side that the letters are raised will be seen

I have a gold ring that has a word stamped on it. It is very small lettering and the letters are not that deep. I used industrial sharpie to fill in the letters and it works but after awhile it fades away. I wear the ring at all times except in the shower. Is there any way to permanently blacken the letters? Some type of sealant? Thanks.

ldyedgware rings are tricky because they are constantly rubbing against the skin of the finger next to the one it is worn on. This rubbing causes the black to come out of the impressions. I see this happen with all types of oxidations or inks. My suggestion would be for you to continue to occasionally darken it with the ink. I think even a sealant would rub off on a ring.

I bought the sugar skull stamp and after I hit it hard on the top holding it straight up and down and only got the teeth the skull top won't show.

I am not sure what you mean. I do know there is textured sheet that you can transfer by hammering it on top of your metal. I would do an online search for textured sheet metal.

You bet, that is what these stamps are made for. Just do not stamp on hard metals like Stainless Steel unless the stamps specifically say they are hard enough for that.
