That last one is a really good one to ask. I'm going to use that for myself. I always have 2 questions I ask. 1. Why did you decide to join and why are you still here? This can tell you about culture and how exciting it can be. 2, if I were to be successful in my application, how do you envision us working together? Especially if the interviewer is not the hiring manager, I want to know how he or she sees us working on projects. For example, I'm globally responsible and I need to have a really good relationship with both the US and the EU colleagues. If I get a feeling that either one may make themselves bigger, for example try to boss me around, I want to know before I take the job. Culture to me is everything. In the end, I can only be as open as the regions allow me to be.

I love these! Some of my go-to questions are: 1) When was the last time a team member brought a suggestion or idea to you or upper management? How was that received and what was that process like? 2) How do YOU practice work-life balance? Is this the team standard, or are you the only one? 3) Let's say the offer was extended to me and you gave me a new project. Could you please walk me through how you would supervise me through the process? These questions really get you to understand EXACTLY who you'll be working with. Every company says they "value" work-life balance until you start your job and your boss never approves your time off. All bosses believe they are good bosses until they start micromanaging you up the @ss. Honestly, some of these questions trip up interviewers and I think just the process of forcing this team to actually think during the interview makes you stand out as an applicant. It shows extreme interest. And you get the knowledge you need to make an informed decision if these are the type of people you want to work with
