How to start and stop your timer using your throttle on EdgeTX (viewer request)

Be aware that there are number of settings for the timers:
OFF- The timer is not used
ON - The timer runs all the time
Start -The timer starts once the configured switch is activated. After the time is started, the timer ignores the switch position.
Throttle - The timer starts once the throttle is raised and the configured switch is activated. The timer will stop counting if either the throttle position is lowered back to the minimum value or the configured switch is deactivated. This does the same as in the video.
Throttle % - The timer counts proportionally to the throttle. It counts in real time at full throttle and at half speed at 50% throttle.
Throttle Start - The timer starts once the throttle is raised and the configured switch is activated. After starting, the timer ignores the throttle position and will keep counting unless the switch is deactivated.

I prefer to have 2 timers with one being for the total on time that starts and stops with the throttle cut switch and the second timer uses the Throttle% option. The TH% needs a little testing to get the actual time set but once that's done you'll get an accurate timer that accounts for slow and/or fast flights.

The companion software is better for videos but I know lots of pilots don't use it... Happy flying

@Painless360 yeah it's a lot easier to film but isn't the same as the radio layout. IMO it's much easier to follow when you film the radio itself

Many feel the same way, so I try to use the radios as much as I can. But, there are issues with the screens when filming... Happy flying

Me too, on my Taranis. You really need to change if you start using ELRS as the devs don't test it on Opentx and not all of the latest features work... Happy flying

@@Painless360 I have one trans with edgetx for elrs but I've programmed so much into the open tx trans (flaps, pan tilt zoom, flaperons etc etc etc)that it would take the best part of a day to reprogram it all back in to edgetx

As I understand it, there's not much difference between EdgeTX and OpenTX on the black and white radios anyway. If you're using a colour touch screen you want to be on EdgeTX though. My radio is B&W but I do have ELRS so I made the move to EdgeTX too.

@Invid72 there's a ton of improvements in the backend. I guess if opentx works, keep using it. But it's not hard to update and there's lots of good improvements imo

If you want the throttle to start and stop with the throttle stick just use "Throttle" instead of "Throttle Start". It does the exact same thing without the logical switch. I personally prefer the "Throttle %" timer so the timer runs faster or slower depending on how aggressively I fly and also stops the timer entirely at low throttle.

I managed to make timer1 count my current flight time when armed, and timer2 counts total time. My current model is at 14 hours

You can also use the 'flights' LUA script to keep track of how many flights too... Happy flying!

@Painless360 i haven't been able to get that flight counter script working. I google it and there's literally zero results. How do you enable it? I just get an empty box with a logs button

The flight is considered successful if after 30sec the engine is above 25%, telemetry is active (to indicated that the model connected), and safe switch ON. The flight is considered ended after 8 seconds of battery disconnection (detected by no telemetry). So unless you have it setup properly and have the model connected, it won't work..
