I'm returning to the game from 1.0 and I'd completely forgotten you can dump a full bucket of dirt into a pan. I have been doing 1 scoop of dirt for hours. Thanks for the video!

Holy crap, I thought I was playing the game wrong but they really want you to work at the start of the game - fill bucket with dirt, dirt in pan, water in pan, brush rinse repeat. It's just the controls that make it tedious, it could all just be right and left click, but they involved e and q for no good reason. Left click, pick up item, another left, item use/interaction with other item. Right click drop item. I keep picking up my bucket and dropping it when I mean to empty, or empty it when I mean to drop it. I'll stick with the game for awhile because I like these types of games but damn unintuitive controls + serious early game grind.

Thank you for this video! I first became really aware of Hydroneer when the DLC came out recently, and I thought it looked pretty fun. I bought a copy, installed it, and began a game... no tutorial, no on-screen directions or tips, just right into the deep end. I genuinely think that without your video guide, I'd have refunded. This is real great advice and this is the best way to play in the start of the game. I have used it and I don't know why I didn't use it when I started 2.0 yesterday. Well I will probably start over again soon anyways after like 50 episodes in my series. lol. Thanks for putting up this video hybrid. Also I hope one day we see pimp my plot again. I really miss that series. Hope your morning night and evening is going great. This game is a whole new game now. So when a new person just buys this game they aren't really missing out on anything. We are all new to this game now. Even us og's.

Really nice guide! I Just started yesterday with the new update :) I did find out though, it's much quicker to just use the spade to put dirt straight into the pan! I just dug a load of dirt, dumped it in the river, set up my pan and brush in the river and use the spade to put dirt into the pan, you can do all the brushing etc underwater without any issues

that is faster yes but not where i want my begining to be. where i was digging is deeper so i get more reward the deeper quicker just me though u can pay this game how you like. but withing a few buckets im off buying stuff

I have started playing this recently. Aside from keeping the pan in the water, you can also double the number of each shovel load by placing it back down and taking a scoop again. You can see this best by placing it on a surface you can't dig up.

you can do but if you do that then ur earn less rather than digging down. the reason for this is when you dig a shovel of dirt then place it down lets say at the top then the soil u dug becomes that layer of soil which if its top layer is worth less than where you got the soil from.

As a NOOB to Hydroneer 2, thanks for the tutorial. You have answered 1 of my two main questions. I have always tried to sit the bucket right-side up, but after watching this video, I see that the bucket can be laying sideways or even upside down and the shovel will still fill it. The 2nd question i still have not found an answer to even after watching several tutorial videos ... Can you lock a block in place so that you don't accidently pick it up? After I brush a pan of dirt and proceed to remove the gems from the pan, I often find myself picking up the whole pan instead of just the nugget inside. I imagine that these are things that are so obvious to an experienced player that they are not even thought about.

That really threw me too. I watched the official tutorial and figured I was doing something wrong, because I couldn't get the bucket to stand up straight. Little did I know that the bucket could be completely upside down and it would still accept dirt.

A thing I still try to find out: how to “undo”/(land)fill bad digging? Somehow I always end with loosely connected blobs of dirt. And the use of the rake (?) also kind of eludes me.

Actually, you know what would make a great video.. "# things you can do with Logic Parts!" Logic is.. for some people.. confusing. There's a lot of options for logic gates in this game, but, at a glance, it seems a bit useless. There's actually a whole ton of nifty contraptions possible, but thinking of those.. whoa now cowboy, that requires thinking, and we youtubers can't be spending our precious few braincells on that now- not when we have a Hybridsteel ready to help us with videos answering the questions we never thought to ask about Logic. Guarantee that one would get a ton of views and help a lot of folks. Just a thought! :D

Do not worry I'm going to do a logic 101 starting with in game and layman explanations afterwards for every logic item in the game, useful builds first after that. I probably will not cover all the smarty pants things logic will do but I hope by the end people will have a solid understanding of what could be possible with their imagination.

u can do it into the pan as well just wash every single time. works out about the same amount of reward just with the bucket u can dig a hole faster

One question as a beginner is that I accidentially by double clicking too fast, put my anvil under the bedrock which I can't retrieve no more. I also put my cuuter under the becdrock but since its taller than the anvil, i could still grab it. I searched it up and ppl genernally suggested a mod to get under the bedrock, or one guy mentioned a vehicle glitch which got fixed

Hi, I have a question about the drills in general. So when you dig with a shovel you take a bit of dirt away with which swing. Fair enough. But does a drill do the same? I mean if I were to put a drill lets say on the surface, will it "consume" dirt until the hole is too deep for the drill bit or is dirt not "consumed" when mined with a drill and said drill will remain on the surface forever. Also great video btw.

Now your other video about the limits of T1 drills makes a lot of more sense to me, because when I watched it I was like: " Why would I put a drill so low if it can mine only one block deep and I would need to move it." Thank you for clarifying it. Also kinda strange that a shovel is more powerful than a drill if you really think about it. A shovel has the power to "move/remove" dirt and a drill is just nibbling on a single piece of dirt indefinitely. XD

How do you get the hourglass? Having a day night cycle doesn't really serve any purpose in the game. The night cycle is far too long, and the amount of time during the day where you actually have enough light to see what you're doing is incredibly small. Being able to set it so that I can always see what I'm doing would make this game a thousand times more enjoyable.

when u make a new game click creative mode go to shop take hourglass out of the shops boundry, then save game the load the game but check the creative mode box so u keep the hourglass but the game goes back to normal mechanics so u have to buy things

hey there, great tutorial! There is rake added to flatten plots of land. I find it to works a bit inconsistently. Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to reliably pick a direction to flatten the ground. Is there a hotkey I don't know about?

I see the rake flattens just below the grid line. I understand why on a couple levels but sucks stuff floats till you get foundations

It's a lot faster if you leave the little bucket on the shore, the big bucket in the water, put 4 shovels of dirt into the little bucket, dump the little bucket into the big bucket in the water, then scrub. You never have to move the big bucket at all. The first items you should buy are 2 more big buckets and a second little bucket. The 3rd big bucket is for collecting resources. Now you fill the 2 little buckets with dirt. Dump them into the 2 big buckets in the water, scrub scrub, do that about 4 or 5 times then dump them into the 3rd big bucket and you'll make loads of $$$$ in no time. Just my 2 cents.

i know about the water pan thing i just dont do it..just me though.. also if you dig in the center of the plot u can dig deeper with the shovel without hitting the sides.. and the end bit with the blocks they are to make stairs to get to the bottom of the plot. use the 2 buckets tro get bottom level dirt so reward is better to earn more money.. all this can be done within 10 minutes and then go automated after 20 minutes

New to the game, the first drill it says deeper you dig better the yield does this mean if i place it in a deep hole the better it is? or can you set it to drill deeper? its not very clear.

ok so t1 drill can go down as far as t1 soil but then u will see a layer thats a different colour the t1 drill wil lwork until then. But u need a t2 drill to go deeper.. T3 isnt a thing yet but yes the drill can be in a hole and it will work.. iv covered this quite a lot on this channel.

Two buckets can make one bigger blob of dirt meaning more value. (1st fill two buckets 2nd drop the dirt on the ground try to aim for the 1st dirt dropped 3rd then put the big blob into the pan then dust it off more than you would get if you did 1 at a time!)

ur determined by the rng of dirt so ur not always garrented more in a bucket full vs a shovel full into a pan.

Hello. Thank you for this little video.. If it works.. don't fix it correct.. meaning your making money.. that what matters.. I might try 2 saves. the one with the blocks.. and one with digging a little hill. if possible.. I want to learn the game but in like different stages. I like yours.. but traditionally I like the other way. Now I'm from playing 7 days to die. You kind of have to do sometime similar to that game where you need to build like steps like to go from the upper level to the lower level. cause if you drop from a high height. In the game you will feel it.. But love the game cause of the building aspect of it.. This game seems to have same thing.. I don't like the night.. it really sucks.. they should have a mining helmet that has a light you know. Thumbs up as well.

Someone said that in 2.0 the first plot produces the same stuff regardless of how deep the drill is. Is that true?

when u say same stuff u will get gold, iron, cloutium, shards and gems regardless of where u dig. the deeper you go though the better the rewards.. on ember top level soil is 0.3 to 0.9 in size of nugget go down to bed rock dirt and u might get 1 lb to 1.5 lbs of weight per nugget... so depth is the deciding factor for ore reward.

i dont know about the sizing of bars they are set by max and the team as long a sthe weight is true then its all good. but iunderstand the concern. check a set of scales to make sure the weight is good just to make sure

Hay man! I know that my question might sound dumb, but how do you make more drills. I just started playing the game and I am now stuck making 100 HC/H, and it's frustrating me.

if you look slighly to the left of the pan it will drop in the pan right away theres a faint second marker for dropping things in certain place.

Hello! I just moved to Bridgepour and tried placing my drill at the bottom of the land I dug manually in. The pipes are laid but, when I turn the water gauge on, the tier 1 drill doesn't work. 😢 what did I do wrong? The dirt driller works fine though. 😭 Please help. I spent too much on pipes only for it not to work. 😢

So you brought the t2 and t3 tools dug to the bottom of the plot and then used a t1 drill at the bottom? if so then thats the problem.

stairs coz i cant build a slope properly and it helps to be able to jump up to platforms instead of tiny bits of dirt

u have to have 1 person using keyboard and mouse and 1 using controller as its split screen in 1 game the game has to define both players so 2 inputs are needed unfottunally.

a little its more about adding things to lines now instead of having seperate cables for everything so u might be able to make the builds smaller with new system

there is no improved shovel the t2 shovel does the same as the tier 1 shovel it just does it in tier 2 dirt. no difference in filling buckets or anything

@@Hybridsteel yeah, I thought thr t2 shovel was called "Improved shovel". Sounds like makes early game faster. Thing is, I can't seem to find neitherthat not the t2 pickaxe in the starter town shops. Am I being blind or do I need to go to some other specific village.

because u dont produce top level dirt the deeper u go the better the reward.. the t1 drill produces's better priced loot from deeper down

in 1.7 and before that yes the RAM drill used to only get top level dirt. but the game has a whole new structure now. these arnt RAM drills these are TIER 1 drills which work lower down getting more reward

they are in bridgepour in conveyor nation they are called spliters put an ore on the little pad and the reader will sort the material out for you.

im going to ausme u have iron and an anvil and hammer..... have you chopped the iron bar into 3 parts and heated the bars up then put them on the anvil then hit with the ironsmith hammer?

@@Hybridsteel I don't clam it to be faster. I'm sure it's not. I'd rather fish for my first 3k. Get what I need then go from there. Btw update is awesome from what I've seen so far. A couple of bugs to pass on. I've had a building bug conveyor stayed red when placed. Also place your pallets down don't drop them. Almost lost it to the depths of the earth. Lol

Lol dude… you explain the basics in real time in 90% of the videos, I get where you’re coming from but man… half of every video is digging a hole and panning it… On another note,man I’m hoping we get the ability to make things again, as in weapons and jewellery or some kind of product. As opposed to mining resources to make things that mine resources…

u can make things now grab the anvil and smellt it and be happy. half of the starting videos will be digging holes as its the joy of starting the game but after this starting video im working my way through how people would expand their builds and go from there..

@@Hybridsteel yep… discovered that after leaving a bunch of whiney comments all over hydroneer videos lol… yes I’m sufficiently embarrassed. Just the power and excavator bothering me now… and I know the excavators coming back soon But I really liked the crafting table stuff too. Made for nice variety in my warehouse of goods 😜 Hopefully max can find a place for the blueprints system again
