Thanks for the vid, I find the progression of the cartwheel to a cart-double to make sense. I'm definitely working now towards learning the cart front, along side the front flip. I can land the first few attempts of the front flip then the rest of the day I'm just landing squat or on my bottoms.

I love this video ! Do you have in depth video on the basic spin, that s harder than it looks (or maybe it is my dispraxia idk) but would be lovely to have more detail on that) Also what does mean spotting ?

Man, I just got into tricking back in September alongside taekwondo and I feel so intimidated when I go to train every Friday with other trickers. I have prior experience in martial arts doing hapkido and kickboxing and my kicks are pretty decent but not up to tricking standards. I feel so discouraged all the time especially with flips.

Very interesting and helpful to understand what the basics of tricking are! It's actually kind of difficult to find this info on the internet. Question: do you have a different progression that you recommend for freerunners, since freerunning has most of the tricks in tricking except for the kicks?
@ZakFerguson
@ZakFerguson 3 жыл бұрын
No, that is the universal progression in my opinion. Each different move has a specific progression based on the background moves you have. For example if I know someone has done parkour or freerunning and I'm teaching them scoot, I will say "Just do a step vault/safety vault 180 on the ground." And they get it immediately. That kind of thing. But like I said, this is the easiest progression base you could have in my opinion. You will have to learn your kicks unless you just don't want to kick. But you should just "fill in the gaps" of whatever you don't know using these progressions.

I think I get what you are saying: if a freerunner wants to learn tricking, he would still need to learn the same basics. What I am wondering is: what if someone wants to learn just freerunning tricks? Would you still teach them all the basic kicks if their goals were just to learn cheat gainer, cork, cart full, b-twist, a-twist, etc.?
@ZakFerguson
@ZakFerguson 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. But ok got it. Yeah I would just omit the basic kicks and tornado, swing hook and pop 3. Pretty much everything else would be the same. Bkick will lead to Btwist, Aerial, Atwist, Frisbee and many others. You can then use Frisbee to learn ChGainer and ChGainer+Btwist or Atwist to get Cork etc. It's like movement Alchemy.

quite a helpfull guide, thanks a bunch!! I only got 1 question. ¿how do I know I learned a trick and im ready for the next one? for example, I can do a normal cartwheel, i dont think its a "perfect shaped cartwheel" but its still a cartwheel, so ¿should i keep practicing cartwheels and get better shape on them or move on to one handed cartwheels? the same happens to me with tornados, scoots, and other tricks

I twist better to my right but do cartwheel,arial,tornado kick and the other tricks better to my left.Should i learn to twist on my left to match with the tricks?
@ZakFerguson
@ZakFerguson Жыл бұрын
You should adapt to whichever feels more natural. Normally I would suggest that you re-learn all your tricks on your natural twisting side. But if you know all of those tricks already, you might actually just twist left and you think you twist right. In the end, it's your call.

i know this is such an old video but someone please help me!! i can't figure out which side i'm supposed to trick on! I do mainly parkour but have gotten into just a little bit of tricking and am really confused 😅 i twist to my right, cartwheel (naturally) to my left but can do both sides, all my vaults are on my left side with my left hand, i sideflip and roll on my right and with my right shoulder, and am righthanded. If someone can figure this out, please let me know. I am so confused. Thank you!!!
@ZakFerguson
@ZakFerguson Жыл бұрын
You should twist left because most of those motions are actually twisting to the left. When you say you "twist right" what tricks or moves do you mean?
@bluenen8197
@bluenen8197 Жыл бұрын
@@ZakFerguson twist right just means when i stand on the ground and do a 360, i naturally go to my right, i haven't gotten into very many complicated tricks using twists yet
