Thanks for sharing your experience with us , very interesting indeed , I wear Daytona goretex boots my feet get cold, that's a distraction.. I did get a really expensive rukka goretex jacket and now I feel a bit of a twit ... You're right with layering up! Something I'll be doing early December when I go to Estonia for the weekend. Oh and drinking glōōgi 😂 , I digress.. looking forward to part 2 I do enjoy your channel , thank you

I assume you're flying rather than riding to Estonia. The bike may be a bit chilly... I don't have a problem with Gore-Tex boots and cold feet. I do wear wool socks due to an allergy so that may help. I think the Gore-Tex gear is a good investment. I have bought it the past and will buy it again. Their quality control *IS* the best in the industry. D-Dry and Gore-Tex fabric breathes when it's not wet and will certainly keep you dry when caught out in the rain. The "layering" is more for prolonged riding in the rain. A nylon jacket over a D-Dry or Gore-Tex one is probably the best you can have. The water has more to get through!

@@riderramblings understood., if I was commuting I'd definitely layer up, I am a glazer and drive the van to and for work, yes I am flying to Estonia with the wife and my daughter

All very helpful. On a related topic, are you a spectacles wearer? If so, what do you use to prevent them from misting up in the cold and wet? I've never found a very satisfactory solution myself.

Len, Yes, I wear glasses and, erm, you're not going to believe this, they never fog-up. I think there are a number of reasons for this: 1. The lens are relatively small, they don't come close to my cheeks so the air can get behind them. 2. I use a pinlock all the time. I never take it out except to clean the visor. I clean the visor about once a week with warm water and washing-up liquid and dry it off with a clean microfibre cloth. 3. The chin vent is always open below about 50 mph. 4. I crack open the visor below about 30 mph even in the rain. It's only a smidgen so the rain doesn't get in. 5. I clean my glasses every morning after breakfast with washing-up liquid (Fairy if it's available), rinse under the tap and dry them off with kitchen towel. This makes it a little more difficult for condensation to start to form on the lens. I never use proprietary spectacle cleaner. My cleaning system has never had an adverse effect on any of my spectacles. 6. I use _MOTUL Helmet & Visor Clean_ on the outside of the visor and the helmet every morning (spray it on, leave for 30 seconds or so, and wipe off with a microfibre cloth) before putting the helmet on. Some of these may be more effective than others but that's my system.
