God bless you for this, in Houston right now we’re having plumbing issues all over the city due to the freeze. Our toilet had this issue and my poor Dad whose already stretched thin helping relatives all over town during the freeze tried and tried to fix this issue. I waited until he went to enjoy his dinner- pulled up this video and fixed it!! My dad was so proud of me .... I apologize for this long message but I think people don’t always realize how things like this video can be a real blessing, sometimes you just need a win.

6/16/16 I watched your video due to a very slow filling problem and since i have well water I thought it was plugged up. Your directions were so simple that this 65 yr old woman very hesitantly (and fearful too) followed what you did and now my toilet fills up nicely so thanks for saving me money! I have never EVER FIXED ANY THING BEFORE! :)

You saved the day! I didn't need to replace any flapper valves or fill tubes like the articles I had been reading were suggesting. This simple fix saved a costly repair that would have ended with calling the plumber and being charged $75 so they could come do this very thing.

Just replaced my entire fill valve a month ago, which ended up being a major plumbing job because of old pipes breaking ( 1959 built house and hard water), because it was running on like that. The old water valve to cut the water off was bad and broke when I tried to turn it off. Anyway, a month or so later, imagine my surprise when the water is running on again. I'd been shutting off the supply and cutting it on to fill, repeat etc, for the last day or so, and was getting ready to buy a new fill valve. I typed in my problem and found your video, with the same old 400A valve. Just went in there and cleaned it as shown, and it is functioning properly. There was already calcium build up in there. Hopefully that was mostly from crud from the repair and I don't have to do it every month. Thanks for the video.

Wow, this actually works! I saved my self a rip off job and hefty fee from a plumber coming. Makes one wonder how much money I wasted so far with simple repairs I could have done on my own. Thanks man.

SO GLAD I CAME ACROSS THIS!!! I was ready to buy a new part and mine is only 6 mo old! It had one tiny pebble stuck in there. I pried it out with a toothpick and was sure that couldn’t have been it. But it WAS it! Thank you!

11 years later and this still was the best video to fix this! My valve did not look dirty/gritty but I cleaned it anything with a plastic tooth pick and a cloth and it worked like a charm! My culprit are those tank drop ins that change the water to blue. Thank you very much!!!

Thanks goodness it worked after 3 tries. I sealed the cap back on but didn’t turn it to the right position it was in that’s why it wasn’t working the first 2 times. Make sure you lift the pointy thing when twisting the cap back on and put it in the position it was found, for those of you can’t get it to work the first few tries. I appreciate the video! 🙏

@Everything If you have to watch a KZfaq on basic fixer stuff than your parents failed you from the start. I can flip through a manual faster than this video and find exactly what I need before you get past the intro. So I'll stick with my granpa ways and you can waste you time maybe trusting some random person online that probably does not even know what they're talking about.

cleaning the top part didn't make the floater go up more to stop the water. What I did was turn the rod to the right so that the floater goes up more, then the water stopped running. Hope that helps. Yes I love you tube videos too!... showed me know to fix things yourself... showed me know to install a car radio in 30 mins that the dealer wanted to charge me 300 bucks on, and it showed me how to cook. I'll be damned, this worked! It literally took me a couple of minutes. I didn't find any grit/gunk where you did, but instead found it on the tube like part that the black round thing floats up and down on. Now I can take down the "Is the toilet running?" signs I placed by the doors. I've come home after work to find the toilet running which is why my water bill is $40.00 bucks higher than usual this month. Thank you!!!!

I searched online high and low on how to fix but found nothing. Then I saw this video by accident. Same set up as mine. Everything was simple and made sense. Went right to the bathroom and tried the fix and it worked! Its Jan 2023 and this video is still effective! Thank you
