Thank You So Much My Dude!! I've been working on an EDM track lately and so I've been using a lot of layers even though most of them are from Alchemy which is causing the audio engine to fail and clip the audio. This video has been quite informative👍🏻

Great video - extremely helpful. I had my processing threads on automatic and was constantly overloading - to the point, I could not get through a complete song. I switched it to 8 cores, which is what's on my mac and it works great. Thanks!!!

Clever! At first I’m like, “hmm...is this really worth watching or saving to a playlist...he’s rather young to know about this very deeply.” And then, to my surprised self, you’re going into, as well as explaining, areas and settings that most who have made similar videos aren’t. Brilliant stuff, more in depth than many others! Thank you!!

Thanks Man. Sometimes suddenly when I record a track when I played it back it came a bit to late. Did it also with midi but that I could hear. terrible. Solved that by hand but it completely stressed my head. So I opened up the song with midi latency and I followed Your steps my midi worked great. No more latency. Hopefully it stays that way.

Man you are amazing! You really helped me out and this was the best video out there where you really get explained everything from scratch. I apriciate that! Just one question. If you already have an project with a lot of channels with both Instruments och voice tracks and the cpu overload comes up as soon as you want to play your song(almost done with the song) can you swich the buffer size up then and back just to listened and Edit something without affecting the whole song later on? So for example i change the buffer size just so i can listened to what i ive done so far then maybe add some instrumental and polish the mix to finally bring the buffer back to 128 and then bounce the song without it affecting the sound quality in any ways? Hope you understand what i'm trying to explain, any ways you helped a lot and thank you again i will Follow you channel. Have a great day!
@stephenharveymusic99
@stephenharveymusic99 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, means a lot! And to answer your question, yes you can change the buffer size whenever you want and it won't change the sound quality of the project. When you go to change the buffer size the project will "reload" itself technically, so they'll be a little bit of time to wait so that it can do this, but after that the project will be exactly the same just with less cpu impact!
@ConnorTostevin1

Struggling is an understatement... i have projects where everything is bounced to audio, grouped, then froze and i still have cpu overloads, it's making mixing tracks impossible

@heythere6983
@heythere6983 4 жыл бұрын
@@ConnorTostevin1 I have a 2.9 ghz 2017 MacBook Pro with 16gb of ram with hyper threading and it has issues of popping cracking with just one track and two tracks. I thought this would be powerful enough then I realized the desktop versions of the same processors are still more powerful and I honestly dont know why everyone makes it seem like laptops are enough for mixing with virtual instruments ETC. I think if you are using a laptop then unless you get close to the highest specs you wont have alot of headroom to work. I watched a video where they explain the CPU and RAM isnt everything, sometimes there are bottle necks in the system, he changed his SATA SSD drive which was working perfectly fine, to a PCIE drive , the ones which Macs use, and it had issues. So even though his CPU was strong enough, the drive was causing issues. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbujf6920Nnbqnk.html Unfortunately with Macs you cant customize .... So I think the only solution is buying the highest models, preferably a desktop im seeing. You can build a super computer for about 1200 that can do what a 5 grand Mac could do and more , thing is you cant use logic on that. When I checked the cpu usage on logic, it shows one of my cores going to about 30 percent once violins come in, so I would think thats fine, even tho only one core is working harder, if I put the buffer less than 128 , a bunch of issues arise and the core shoots to about 50 percent. But I still have 3 other cores left and hyper threading would make it so that I have 7 cores left, even with one core kinda being worked harder there are issues, tho my cpu isnt really being taxed. Im suspecting it IS the drive that comes with apple products. and there aint anything I can do about that. unless I spend thousands on an inconvenient desktop, or thousands for a less powerful maxed out laptop. if it wasn't for logic and some random sounds I made in logic, id build a computer with an i10 processor and 16 cores, super strong and fast for less than 2000 and use pro tool for something else.

Good discussion! There's a HOWEVER here, though. Adjusting the I/O Buffer Size setting, I've found that the smaller it is, the less my Resulting Latency value tends to be. This is a MUST when I'm recording any instrument. No other Preferences -> Audio setting interacts with the latency. Care to elaborate? 👍

I think my issue is that Im using the *Automatic* setting, since I lower the buffer size and everything is fine, then slowly I notice a delay in the sound so what I do is I re-apply the buffer size change and everything is back to normal. Maybe because its constantly changing the CPU usage, Ill have to check that next
