How To Stop Failing In Your Music Career

Most people talk about wanting to do music full time and how their music career is just getting started, but then crash and burn and ultimately give up. No one wants to be told that they won't make it, but all too often their actions show the writing on the wall. If you want to build a successful music career and really find your stride in the music business you're going to have to come to terms with a few things and see things for how they really are. Unfortunately most are too afraid to do this. I made this video out of frustration and almost didn't post it, but I think that most need to hear it even if it's uncomfortable.

I dont like doing a whole bunch of selfies, but what I do like is doing personal stories - ill eventually turn them into vlogs and post them on youtube, but haven't reached that confidence point yet. Soon though, working through it. I Love adam and everything he's offered to the music community.

I'm also quite introverted. I've got problem with revealing my face on the internet, because I want to be able to go outside casually without any unwanted attention, but I get that it's harder to propagate my content this way and I still haven't thought of what I'm going to post on my Instagram 😂

I've been doing music for over 30 years. Spent many years as a producer. Only been on the artist side for a few. On both sides its the same problem: not enough failure. I haven't put myself out there enough to have the kinds of failures that teach you how to succeed. So now I am focused on building my catalog(s) through multiple releases. And failures. I'm gonna fail gloriously and keep pushing everytime. I already know the pain of regret and missed opportunities - from talking myself out of stuff - all too well.

Failure happens when inaction is in abundance. That's something we must realize. Real success is not just about what revolves in our little world. We must stop the excuses, kill off the voices in our heads that hold us back, and start facing our fears. There is no other way but to keep moving forward towards the success of our career.

I have been playing piano for 2 years now, been making music and improvising for less than a year... I worked so hard every single day (could have worked harder to be honest)... 9 months ago I did an audition for the conservatorium in my city.. it was my friends idea, I was so scared i didn't want to do it... i practiced even harder and after the audition I got a mail that I could skip 7 years of piano lessons to get to the highest level of youth piano education in my city (Bruges). Never stop believing and working hard!!! And did I make progress, I think so, I was really happy to have flown away from war (Syria), the fact that I survived inspired me, I won't take it for granted...

I've been making music for a little over a year now. I have released around 10 songs and have been seeing my progress throughout all of it. I'm at a point where I don't want to release music because i know that i can do better but then that puts me in this weird "just learning" stage when I should be creating more.

Hey Adam. I appreciate all the awesome value you're bringing. Your content has helped me in pushing my music forward. I've been doing music for over 15 years. Started producing in 2005 and dropped my first single in 2011. Every other skill I've amassed came from my love for music. The problem is that I'm beginning to lose steam. I don't make music as much as I want to and the main reason for this is discouragement. I want to reach more people but how do I do it without making them feel like I'm bothering them? I've sent tons of emails to music journalists and bloggers but still no feedback. I have people in radio stations and DJ that love my sound and play it all the time and I really appreciate that. But I want to move forward and my progress feels inhibited. Really hope you see this message. Thanks again for everything.

I've been making music for 8 years, focusing on EDM bass music and i can say for sure that ive failed multiple times in my whole music journey. I made the same mistake of just sitting around and being lazy for 3 of those years. And I recently started picking myself up, using more marketing techniques. One thing I've learned in the recent years is that connections is key. How some people instantly blow up with success is bcz they know and befriend someone else who's gotten massive success. Id have to say is my fear is putting so much hard work into lets say an album/music video and getting only a few views/plays. But I try not to let it discourage me and I keep going

I‘ve been making music for 1.5 years now (if you’re wondering why there’s nothing on this channel it’s because it’s my personal account) and i literally figure new things out at least once a week, and realize that i‘ve been doing something wrong the entire time. I mainly focused on producing so far, but i want to start rapping too. I wanted to record a song in quarantine but my mic broke mid recording, and i ordered a new one which is supposed to come in this week. For the next 6 months im planning on releasing at least 5 singles and write two verses per week to practice and have something in the vault whenever i get stuck. In terms of a following, i want to achieve about 1k ig followers (i‘m at 350 now) and about 300 plays on each song minimum. I‘ll reply to this comment on how far i‘ve gotten in 6 months if i don’t forget it :)

I had that mentalitly for a long time. I thought "if i just had more income, i can finally buy a house for my wife n kids. " But more income didnt come, and more time was slipping by. Til the day came i had enough waiting, scared to make a leap. Im a couple weeks from moving our shit into our new home. New is scarey, unknown is scarey. BUT, being stagnant and wallowing in "what if's" is a helluva lot scarier. Take that fuckin leap of faith!👊🙏

I actually loved this video. I find myself in such a rut lately. Wanting to do so much and something always coming up. I'm tired of it. Need a change in mindset and momentum. I believe in myself and my music. I'm not afraid of the rejection. That over the years has only pushed me to keep doing it. In turn helping me really find my sound and style. My biggest struggle is engaging on social media and really putting myself out there. In ways that highlight what I have and how I do what I do. May seem easy to others but for me...it's like being socially awkward in way. Which I'm not in person. But I can't seem to put my vision of how to present my work and myself. To the point where it would make people interested and wanting to see more.
